You make some good points, his long kicking game has always been very average, but he did have some good success at times with his short kicking game when he was with us.
I agree he’s not even close to having the mindset of hitting hard enough to play 13 just yet, if ever as aggression is a part of the game he is badly lacking.
While with us, although not what you would call a dangerous ball runner, he did go to the line at speed and was a running threat, that’s seems to have virtually vanished at the Bulldogs.
Maybe Benji wasn’t such a bad coach for him after all ?
This whole Galvin saga is a perfect example as to why young emerging players should not let a bit of good publicity and public praise get to heir heads and have them believing they are superstars before they have earned the right to do so.
In saying all this I think it keeps pointing to the fact that Latu Fainu has far better potential, so we probably got lucky in that sense.
However we have our own issue with the question as to whether or not Luai is proving us with 1.25 million dollars of value ?
Nobody can doubt what he brings from a leadership and drive point of view, his defence and work ethic cannot be questioned, but for 1.25 million you want and expect an attacking genius and he is far from that at the moment.
We will need to see a big improvement from Luai in 2026 to get to that expected and required level of attacking play.
