His speed is elite over 100m. It’s the first 5m to 10m that is the problem.

JAC is the opposite (or he was), got up to speed really quick, but without any further acceleration and not much in the tank from about 70/80m.

I think it's power not speed, bula needs to develop more strength in the thighs/core. To bust through the first line of defence.

The Flogs nearly got pumped on their failure to score points and failure to close out the game. Burton was shit average to be fair - who replaces him?

Galvin messed up at least 2 try scoring opportunities, and both he and Burton screwed up a gift 1 point before extra time. However I have to put more of the blame on Galvin as he was the 7 and should have been controlling the play. I honestly think it was a pretty boring performance from both sides in attack, and defense looked good because the field is narrower and they are both pretty dour defensive minded teams/coaches. Hard to take much from a form guide perspective away from the Vegas games. Will have a better read come round 3 - 5 once the dust settles. So far it looks like Dragons have extended their lose by 2 points or less into 2026 and Dogs have 2 methods of attack much the same as 2025, Galvin short ball to Preston running a line and go left to critta/kikau/Kiraz when they are on the front foot for second phase play and see what happens.

I think benji was happy to accommodate his style of play and would have made it work.
Now he is forced to play to a structure and in a position thst doesnt suit him.
He definitely played better footy with the tigers

I thought he had a fine game.
It certainly wasn't a dominant performance but there was plenty on show for a Dogs fan to pleased with. He frequently dug right into the line and played square creating space that the team often didn't capitalise on. I thought he did this beautifully from about the 15th minute to the 60th.Apparently it was a master-class performance yesterday

But the timing wasn't quite right with a few forward passes (including the try assist), what should have been the match winner and the pass behind Burton as well as a dropped hospital ball to Preston under pressure. He needs to get these right or hold the ball and cop the hit if he or the target have overrun the play. Additionally, His kicking game was not good but it never has been.
When the game was on the line I wouldn't say he went missing or shirked his responsibility (he should have had the match winner but for passing it forward) but he and the Dogs needed to be better in field goal sets.
Easy to blame the 7 but at the same time he is probably the 4th option for kicking in that situation. His job would have been communication whilst it was up to Burton and Crichton to execute. I'd assume he failed in his job given we didn't see a shot before full-time but we can't know if that was the case or not.
All in all I thought it was poor execution of what was structurally some of the better ball playing we saw yesterday.

Galvin's best position to be played on the field looks to be in purgatory, but the dogs are sticking with 7.
Reports that he was bigger and had found extra pace, hmm, looked like the same old Galvin to me and didn't show any individual brilliance.
He does play the link role fairly well give him that but man he can throw a forward pass and some weren't pulled up.
Think the dogs have a dilemma with him if they were hoping he would become a lock soon his body looks a fair way off that position.
Funnily enough if Doueihi could adopt some of his playing style with linking up it would take his game to another level, can't be too critical though he's only played 40 mins of football.

I wouldn't necessarily agree he played better at the Tigers. I think he definitely had a lot more highlight reel moments because of the freedom Benji gave him, but im seeing improvements in his game at the Dogs that he wouldn't have got here IMO.
I think he simply lacks that class. He is like a ballplaying Clinton Schifcofske. Awkward to handle and a good player, just not top level ability

Dogs relying on Big plays from Critter, Kikau and Preston. Preston helps Galvin but for me he is not an on ball 7. 5/8 at best, he crabs across field. I really hope we smoke the dogs again this year.
He’s a lock. The sooner he hits the gym and moves there ; the sooner people will compare him to players like Brad Clyde . If he doubles down on being a half , he’s Jackson Hastings but better . Or a better version of terry Campese (not peak terry who was an origin player) .
Time will tell. Personally the fact the dogs are talking about moving Burton on for him is mental IMO. Burton is daylight better at footy .

He will always be in the contest because he competes on everything and he is tough I think they are trying to make him the next Nathan Clearly
I like the way he took more time in the game but it was to much sitting back not enough of what he did under Benji he just has to adjust his game
But he won't win them a comp with the 9 1 and 6 they have
Even if Burton played 13 free to roam O'Sullivan at 7 and Galvin at 6 it's so much better and they just need a 9
