Lachlan Galvin #277 *Megathread*

I'm sure they will release him and sign May.

Nothing back for the Tigers other than room to sign May and move things around in the cap.

It's how we roll when backed into an untenable corner by Moses and his clients.

Galvin is not playing anywhere near his ability and will only tank worse as this goes in.

Happy to not have to look at him again in our jersey.
We are not obligated to pick him in first grade, KOE is no problem

It's first grade football. if he is not performing, drop him.

Maybe the architects behind his decisions should apologise for putting him in that situation
I agree, he should not be immune to the wrath of the selection table.
Which decisions? He has stated he will honour his current contract.

You are still missing my point.
Why doesnt he want to play here?
Its not money as he got offered a huge contract here. If someone has bettered it Id be very surprised but if they did, hed use that as leverage to raise our offer. This didnt occur.
He has said in no uncertain terms that its the development angle.
Thats concerning.
But champion @Tucker, we're all outside the inner circle of Gavin's camp, but based on past experience that is known of the player manager's history/methods, what the player might have said can be taken with a grain of truth: the manager manipulates opportunity and everything works in one direction - for player not club.
The truth is a sorry by-product.

Maybe his manager and his old man shouldve prepared him for what was in store for him.
That said i dont think its as bad for him in the general NRL public compared to here which is a small sample.
No one at the clubs blaming him but to paint the club as the villian in all this while not mentioning his manager is just wrong.
To basically say you dont wanna stay here and then take legal action against the club aint going to win you mamy friends...in any facet of life
I didnt think I needed to mention the manager, it goes without saying that prick has done the wrong thing and surely broken anti tampering rules to some degree.
Surely thats got nothing to do with this kid wanting out before he even broke first grade?
Also, he hasnt taken legal action as far as I know. A legal letter is a scare tactic and means jack shit. It was likely designed to tell Luai and co to back off.

Depends Tucker on how you value an opportunity. It was a risk to expect that Lachy could handle FG but plenty have sung his praises for his performances in FG- some of the apparently most knowledgeable people in the game. And he can't be going too bad considering Parra are wanting to replace Dylan Brown with him - they are not planning to put him reserves.
He would have been rookie of the year had he not been suspended. To say the club has treated him badly when his profile while playing at the club has resulted in him becoming one of the hottest properties on the market - poor kid
He handled first grade nrl from day 1 like hed been doing it for years.

Id like to see how he goes with more time and space provided by our forwards... but they aint happening anytime soon Id say

I agree with Richardson in that he should see out his contract which is the current position. Our investment in him is modest and he can provide depth in the halves.
Absolutely

Once Latu is back start training ready to play along side Luai and use Galvin as depth

If we receive suitable compensation (money or player) than accept it and let him go

If we don't he costs stuff all as depth

Win win for us for once

Id make Galvin sit out the season in KOE subject to form unless big $$ came our way to incentivise otherwise
Benji has to drop him,,if he doesnt,Galvin will take down the coach with him]
Huge liability in attack and defence
Care factor zero
I wld not release him this season as weve paid 70% of his $250k,and Im ok to suck up the balance and not roll over to I Moses

Yes Galvin can direct his manager to either take legal action or not , if he takes legal action which I think has happened , he should be no where near nrl side , legal action against your own club Fk me really , his parents could have also said yes or no to legal , but they have gone legal

Im not talking aout that, Im asking why hasnt management got to the root cause and found a way to co-exist until he leaves?
He had his contract discussion meeting on April 14. Since then we have played in 5 games. A poor loss to the worst side in the comp, a lucky but courageous win v Sharks, a 'terrible win' v Dragons, the Storm shallacking and a loss to Souths with half their team missing.
The group are struggling. Its not just him. If there is a divide, that can be managed. If its everyone v him, he has to go. Either way, its a mess.

Have they gone the legal action route?

I might hazard a guess that today's WTFC monthly meeting might go some way to fix the mess.

As much as people want to see the back of him I don't think the likely suitors Parra and Bulldogs have space for him this year. He wouldn't displace any of their halves.

The fact plenty think a kid with buggerall experience could just play on like nothing has happened just shows the low level of thought that has gone into this.
The club are absolutelty the bad guys in this.
All Ive ever heard from this kid, ever since Ive been aware of him, is that he doesnt want to be here. It is the reason I was so critical of using him as we did last year. It was very obvious to me that him playing last year was a bribe. Instead of analysing the route cause and working together to eleviate his concerns, the club threw him to the wolves in first grade, straight out of school in a very important position on the field and told the universe he was the next coming of Christ - thus putting an enormous target on his back. Theyve now offered him massive overs that he has again rejected. You cant say he doesnt stand by his convictions.
I dont know anything about bullying as I am not there, but it stands to reason that a kid who goes from being treated like a god to being ostracised by a group of A-type personalities, who own the dressing room will have issues. The club doesnt seem to be handling him well at all. His performances have nose dived and I for one am interested in understanding what is being done about that.
Can’t agree. He seems to be to have a sense of entitlement well beyond that which his abilities would suggest. He signed a contract, nobody forced him, I’m assuming on the advice of Moses and his father. He should honour that contract unless there is clear evidence of unconscionable behaviour on the part of WT. I’m not aware of any such behaviour.
I am totally bemused as to how Richo offered him +$1m a season. I haven’t seen anything to suggest to me that he is or will be worth that.
I see a kid who could develop into a workmanlike first grader if he improves in some areas. I’m happy to see him leave if WT decide to let him.
