Last week pointless when you loose to last place

We were all excited by last week but it means nothing when you loose the next week to the team coming last.

We just haven't defended well enough and any one who doubts why JT has focused our season on learning to defend its because of these kind of displays.

Its not everyone and our attack was good but you can't let that many tries in

Yes….very disappointing the soft defense. ..Most their trys were quite soft...yet a 10 point game...we could've won that
 
don't understand the logic, so it would have been preferable had we lost last week?

Sure Manly have been crap for most of the year, but this is a side that's been in every finals series prior.

Only lost by 10 and we were hardly at our best, the attack was off, they scored 2 tries off kicks, their halves, way more experienced than ours and that's how they won it.
 
Totally agree.

Of course u gotta take any win and to beat souths was awesome either way but – it's just so disappointing because it shows we really are pretenders and not able to play at a consistant level to make the top 8\. The spoon is very much a real possibility this year - Although it also showcases just how close the comp is. 1 week in footy is a lot.

Yeah pretty much Boonboon, back to earth with a resounding thud! God I wish this team could just get some consistency going and string together a few wins - they're so bloody frustrating!
 
You lot are talking like Manly is a pack of muppets who are easy beats in last place… Its freaken Manly, they were always going to bounce back.

Our defence being as brittle as it was is the disappointing part, not who we lost to. A few calls went our way and we could have played poor and won.
 
Missed sue tonight. Not too bad considering how well manly played compared to us, hardly our strongest side - no Farah, sue , lovett at centre covering injured nofa and Marty off sick etc, plus tough conditions. Looking forward to next week

I think we missed Sue big time in that department..
 
Its hardly Wests circa 99 levels of embarrassment getting beaten by the side coming last. In this day and age with such an even comp, any team can beat anyone. 16th can beat 1st at the drop of a hat.

To many excuses. We are wooden spoon material. Last week was a 'flash in the pan'.
Will probably loose next 4 or 5 games before another win.Great to see Taylor with his concentration on defence. I would hate to this side if they were'nt working on defence.

You've got this bunch of kids who are going to be inconsistent

Manly was at must win ,if they'd lost tonight they were going to need a 6 or 7 game winning streak to make the 8

I think the easiest way to look at this game would be to count the NRL matches played and see the difference between the two sides in numbers played

The look at the sides and see Manly still had the better side on the park

Not a good combination of things to have happen

A desperate , better and more experienced side at home against a younger inexperienced side who got injuries in key positions and was coming off a big win

Another learning experience for our young but improving WT's side

We made probably 6 or 7 bad defensive reads and they scored at least 3 tries of them indirectly or directly

Agree , a 10 point loss isn't that bad , plus we had some bad calls from the officials IMO .
At one stage I thought we were going to get flogged .

Agree, the line speed was atrocious, not sure why because it was so good last week.

We just have to accept that currently we are a really inconsistent side. Hate to compare us to Parramatta, but they do the same things, play a great week then an ordinary week next.

Manly are hardly as bad as their position would suggest, it is a really close comp this year. In fact I'd say apart from the Storm, Broncos, Roosters, Cowboys, I am really unconfident about tipping winners each week in any other game. And even those 4 don't instil me with great confidence, Manly having taken Storm down twice this year and Broncos sneaking home a few times.
