Latest news on Simon Dwyer

This is a huge blow to the team and to a young bloke, who had a highly promising career ahead of him. All the best for a speedy recovery, Simon.

Come join the Wests Tigers and have your playing career killed off early :frowning:

It is terrible news. Hope Simon makes a speedy recovery.

FYI - I had this injury as a junior and it took approximately 3 months to return to a normal feeling in the shoulder/arm and a further 3 months to return to full strength. Whilst there's no guarantees with nerve damage, just thought I'd put that out there for those thinking that this might be career ending.

Fingers crossed Simon makes a full recovery and we see him bigger and stronger next year.

Thanks for sharing that. I think we needed to hear something positive about this injury. Hopefully, Simon will return next year, bigger and better than ever!

Go hard Simon, recover up... You'll be missed 'till your return.
I'll pray for you. xo

So unbelievably devestated, this has been a terrible year for the tigers with injuries first a dislocated hip for rowdy now nerve damage for simon. I cant help but feel soo unlucky this year i know every team has injuries but nothing like tigers have had this year come on boys finish the year off strong and send payto out with another premiership ring . Goodluck with the recovery simon i will pray for u everyday.

The news gets worse, I have heard from somebody very close to Simon that it's likely that he will never play again. I am hoping I am wrong. Poor kid

Great description benji_da_gun! The brachial plexus is formed by the last four cervical nerves (C5-C8) and the first thoracic nerve (T1), basically it inervates the nerves of the arm wrist and hand. Pretty painful injury but shouldn't end his career, would be fair to say with the right rehab he is probably looking at 6-9 months, maybe longer. Wish him all the best for a health recovery!

It's far too early to speculate on his future when the nature of the injury doesn't allow for an immediate prognosis.

Hoping he does have a speedy recovery so he can resume basic motor functions that have been affected by the injury.
