@avocadoontoast For me the quicker the better... Seen it before and will see it again when another team decides at the last min to have a go for a player and nabs him E.g. Dogs had Appi K and panthers stole him at the last min and this was confirmed by the player himself.. Don't kid yourself that this won't happen but fingers crossed it doesn't.

I don't think Penrith were paying Api a million dollars. You don't just swoop in at the last minute with a million dollar offer. No one else, bar the Cows can afford him.

Souths could if they got the Burgess money.

Then they'd have to get the Roosters to release him, which they wouldn't do.

Absolutely. You don't pass up on 22 year old dual premiership winning try scoring machines who have also represented country and state, ESPECIALLY when you're in deficit in both positions they are extremely capable of filling.

They wouldn't do it unless there was something in it for them. Roosters lose a centre in Mitchell and Souths have Burns, Roberts and Gagai on their books, plus Johnston and Campbell Graham as wing options. If the Roosters had Burns or Gagai offered up at a discount they might be prepared to do a deal.

Get excited Cowboys fans, Valentine Holmes is reportedly set to sign for North Queensland for the 2020 NRL season and beyond. The Courier-Mail reported on Tuesday night that Holmes is ready to give up on his NFL dream at the New York Jets and ink a $1 million-a-season contract at North Queensland — a deal that is purportedly set in stone unless he experiences “an eleventh-hour change of heart.”

The Cowboys have been showing fellow superstar Latrell Mitchell around in Townsville and dined with him on Monday night as the disgruntled Rooster explores his options. However, the club won’t be able fit both Holmes and Mitchell under the salary cap, meaning the Kangaroos centre looks almost certain to sign for Wests Tigers and take the No.1 jersey.

The Tigers are are reportedly prepared to offer Mitchell a four-year, $4 million contract — and are prepared to grant him his wish to play fullback as the club’s marquee player.

Have a feeling Bulldogs will make a play now... jusf a feeling.

I wouldn't lose sleep over it...

I would think Bulldogs have more pressing problems trying to find a solution for their 5/8 situation.

We have gone all out to sign LM, we even changed the name of the club apparently.
The new triple venture.. Latrell Tigers!

Holmes or Mitchell 1 milion dollars each, I know where i would be putting my money i think we are getting the better end of the deal. In fact if Holmes was openly on the market i dont know whether we would even be going for him, he's a good player but he's not one of those players that only comes along every so often. I believe Mitchell is one of those players someone who can turn a game in your favour in an instant. I think he's our franchise signing (if he does sign) im very happy to be building a team around him.

I see @happy_tiger negative nellie chicken little toad digesting has infected WTF..

??????? possible comment of the off-season!!!

What ...because I understand that footy games aren't won by outside backs

Because I understand we lost arguably our best forward and then arguably our 2nd best forward when fit

Said it a million times , you might have the best 7,6 and 1 those blokes in the 8,10,11,12 and 13 jerseys can't build a platform you lose a lot of footy games

Sorry for the dose of reality

Yeah they sucked so much I'm amazed we got to 9th..like ever

Can't believe people are going to be disappointed to sign Latrell Mitchell..

Gee Geo 9th ...easily satisfied

Not knocking his signing IF it happens ..my issue is people's expectation if he does sign ...we won't become contenders overnight

And you know we need forwards badly ..we are massively undermanned for 2020 in the forwards

If we have spent a million it only leaves 700 k for 4 players ....we will get some absolute superstars for that money ..especially back rowers and props

Yeah we may not make the 8 again. The thing is it has been mooted we will have 5 million available in 2021. Now even if you take out 1 million for Mitchell, that still leaves plenty of money to build up the side nicely around him.
I agree with what you are saying, but Mitchell is available now, so we have to act now.

I don't get the 5 million for 21

We will still have Packer Reynolds Mbye

Only a handful of player's most probably won't be here including Lawrence Taylor McQueen Marshall

That's maybe a million

If we get Mitchell and a couple of others to multiple year deals plus we have re signed Garner and Teal the supposed war chest for 21 is slowly eroding away right now

I think the figure is more likely due to the fact from 1 November next year we are also in position (and can look what Cap budget we have in place) to sign players available and off on contract for 2022 season.

Yes well in this case the big "scoop" could have come from reading numerous articles published yesterday to the same effect...
