Latu Fainu #282

Exactly plus we have the ace card of having his mates & family part of our club.

What has worked for Penrith for their band of brothers.
I was just thinking it's a bit similar to Penrith. They developed their own and we have gone to the market but we have a crop of young players who are living up to the hype. Good luck to Latu.

Abit like Lomax leaving the dragoons but all of a sudden has a offer from Parramatta

It's just an open conversation hay if you ever left the Tiger's in the next couple of years we would offer you 700K so if anything ever happens ring us first when you have the Tiger's permission because we would like to talk when your allowed

It's not hard

Situations are different.
New coach & Lomax not on same page, new coach needs cash to upgrade the roster. Dragons announces Lomax is released from final few years of contract. Next week offer from Parra on the table literally at Arthurs house.

Clubs have convos with players all the time and let intentions be known.

The difference between a conversation and making a contract offer is very different. Dragons can’t make a contract offer & their is zero chance we would allow him to receive one.

Side note if he left because of wanting to play in the halves well he won’t get that at the Dragons as he won’t be picked infront of Flanno jnr or Hunt.

You're trying hard

I think Latu should be easier to keep if he wants to play with his brothers. Make Galvin the No. 6 priority, and Latu only needs to be kept happy until Luai's contract runs out. What is the year difference between Latu's contact finishing and Luai's contract finishing?
Latu here till end of 2027 , nearly 19 years now and he will be 22 years old as he comes off that contract

Galvin here till end of 2026 , 19 years in July and he will be 21 years old as he comes off that contract

Luai here til end of 2029, will be 27 going on 28 in January when he arrives next year and he will be 33 in his last year with us. Not too old these days but we're his last contract.

so, some decisions to be made in 2025 for the long term direction we're going. Love the idea of the Fainu brothers becoming a force at the club like Trobeojfjbvoic's at manly.

Told today Stgeorge are going to offer Galvin 700K ayear contact
Anti-Tampering Guidelines
The current ‘anti-tampering’ guidelines state that the NRL will not register a player’s contract with a new club until after Round Thirteen in the final year of that player’s existing contract with his current club. The only exception to this is where the existing club agrees that the new contract should be registered

That puts it in clear perspective. So we need one of Latu or Galvin to go to lock. The advantages we have are the ability to buy extentions through early upgrades (why a Lomax contract is not what we need right now) and the Fainu brothers together. If the cap is managed well we can handle one other big contract in Luai's. Plus we need to be winning, capitalising on their talent.

This contract clause should have a sticky.

When he commands 700K the tigers will offer him that why would he want to change systems
I think it will be a Ponga moment for the Dragons abit like Newcastle when they offered the teenage Ponga a.massive contract a handful of games and all class from Ponga

There is no reason in the world Galvin would entertain the offer even if it was true.

He’s 18 and the starting 5/8 at the club with no indication of him being moved or dropped.

If the noise was re Latu wanting to leave, it would be somewhat believable, albeit still a stretch given his age and the fact he is here with his brothers/hasn’t debuted yet.

The club (Benji, Richardson etc) are well and truly aware of the talent we have in the halves and it doesn’t take more than common sense to figure out the fact they would have had conversations with the talent to let them know what their position in the club moving forward is.

I.e club may have spoken to them and told them they are both viewed as halves and Fainu will takeover from Luai in due course or Galvin to bulk up to move to lock.

Who knows and who cares, don’t feed the media the bs attention they are seeking

If he’s going to be that good, do you think the Dragons will be the only club to offer him 700k? It would be a pretty standard offer really. I can’t help but think of Austin Powers when Dr Evil sets a million dollar ransom, not realising how little that amount really is.
