Latu Fainu #282

Most definitely that is the case; try their guts out in the lower grades but without the quality support players can look average. Then all of a sudden they are being placed into half gaps and come good.
Also just the confidence you get from playing with certain individuals. I remember once seeing a guy walk into a shed before a GF and just knowing we would win that day.

Dont know him D, tell me about him ?

He's a centre, but he's been filling in at fullback and 5/8 for us in cup the past few weeks.

He's fast and from what I've seen has some similarities to Gagai. Looks alright with the ballplaying but is definitely a runner of the ball.

Strikes me as the type to really step up to the level and make the most of the opportunity.
Was in talks to head over to England but landed at us, probably his chance to make it or break into the NRL so he'll be trying hard.

Latu Fainu & Jeral Skelton continue with their hamstring injury rehab - they are expected to return in Round 14 at the earliest.

Both have a history of hamstring issues - Fainu has suffered multiple strains in the past 18 months, this latest one in recovery from a broken thumb.

Skelton suffered a hamstring strain re-injury in Round 6 - rehab process often longer for recurrent strains.

Initially Fainu & Skelton were listed to return in Round 13 but this has been pushed back at least a week for now.

It’s a worry that Latu did his hammy while training. Normally they go when you hit match intensity. It must be pretty dodgy 😢

Its funny eh? There seems to be a few like that
Most on here wanted Sione Fainu sacked before his brothers even got here, once we saw him in first grade he has changed many minds. Bula was another. When Sheens started talking him up I watched a couple of reserve grade games and was very underwhelmed. Hes never looked back since making his debut.
I don't think you watched him play reserve grade after Sheens started talking him up. He'd been out injured for a month before his debut. Why would you lie about something like that. You must be desperate. Get help.

Gun junior who had a bad run with injuries. Could pair with T'oa in the centres.

May be in line for an upgrade now.

he turned up to pre season carrying pudding ....
I will reserve judgement after he strings 5 or 6 games together
He has also been battling with his older brother being in jail.

Food is an easy go to when you are emotional..

He pulled his finger out when he got back and from all reports is back on track.

We are all human .. well, I assume there are no bots on here

I recall watching Bula in cup at Leichhardt before is debut a couple years back, he was sensational. Inglis like full field try

In an interview his mother praised her other sons and referred to Latu as "he's always been injured".

It’s true. I was over the moon we nabbed him & have confidence he will be a massive success at NRL level but his hammy/groin mixed with concussions are a problem.

His body needs time to be ready for nrl impact

It means we can’t bank on a full nrl season from him and must have a quality alternative in the ranks.

I’m a fan of bringing someone experienced in for 1-2yrs to allow Latu’s body to be right provided that the experienced player is happy to be deprioritized unless form determines otherwise when Latu is fit.

I guess we just had a player like this last last year with Sezar …he seemed a pretty selfless guy on cheap money …. Although I would suggest when called on his performance was mixed at best ..

Maybe we could get Hastings back on the cheap next year ? Before people start turning their nose up, let me know your suggestion of an experienced guy that will be ok with being dropped when Latu is available for selection?

That’s right …. The forum were , rightly in the end , screaming for him to replace the kid at Penrith now . It was difficult to watch games of him back then , as the nswrl didn’t showcase like they do now .

He debuted at the knights a couple of years back , and was supposed to be the cream of thier crop coming through . I think he’s been held back massively by injuries .
Hopefully it’s a case similar to the kid from the roosters where , the talent was always there , he just needed to get on the field .
But I remember watching that game when he debuted .
