Latu Fainu #282

So you acknowledge our attack looks good with Latu playing 13, but he’s not a 13 ?

It’s a very small sample size is my point…I don’t think of him as a 13 …but particularly for a team that gets dominated on both sides of the ruck every week ..

Who do you want to pair with Luai the rest of this year in the halves ? Back to the Space Mase ?

We didn’t look like we had a plan out there … at first I thought maybe we were just going to play the long grinding game but as the 2nd half grew longer we really looked like benji just told them to go out there and do their best

Our team selections were horrible. Not many teams change their entire spine 3-4 times in a match

What am I looking up?
Latu produced the single best junior rep season , ever . No other kid has done what he did that year and I doubt ever will again .
He went undefeated in Harold Matt’s u18’s and won player of the series despite being two years below everyone else at age 15 lol
He got the richest NRL contract for a junior in rugby league history , with manly from dominating in their cup side .
Youngest kid ever to get an adidas deal , played u19’s SOO at 17 , played for Tonga before even debuting in NRL lol.

I never usually hype up kids but his only issue is his horrid run with injuries and keeping his body fit , he’s done more of an apprenticeship in reggies than LG/Mason combined .

I drink beers with plenty of junior rep stars. The big time is a quantum leap. Not saying he won’t make it, but he looked out of his depth to me last night.

absolutely that’s why i say i dont hype kids , i just wouldn’t judge him based off his first 80 minute game in i think at least a year with no luai with him
needs time to get his bearings and a consistent halves partner
won’t see it until maybe the warriors 😩

Yeah, playing him with AD next week is a likely hindrance to his development.

You can't be serious mate. Latu was far from out of his depth last night. He was a lone half with absolutely no one around him and no experience of his own. He more than held his own. He showed great signs. His kicking game is longer than I thought and he is a competitor. Our forward pack got bashed and made no inroads at all for him to play off. His display was far more in the positive than the negative when you take into account all the circumstances.

What performance? He was one of our better players. One of only a couple that had a real dig.
He tried but like everyone apart from Doueihi was ineffective.

My point is more to the people saying he's gone better at 13 or coming off the bench that you can't compare this to those games.
