Lawrance

I guess the problem is he spent his whole career with speed to burn and now he has to re-evaluate and modify a lot of his game.

I'm still hopeful he can turn into a long term centre, that line he ran for his try was terrific.

Hi guys,

Heard it tonight, from my mate who i saw tonight at the game.

His old man was speaking with Lawrence during the week at an event.

He questioned Lawrence's health? And he stated that he has played injured all year. He also needs a minor knee op at the end of the year, he also can't get proper acceleration or speed due to this.

It sort of explains a lot.

yeah it tells me he is a tough bugger , but it also tells me we should be getting the surgery done NOW and have him 100 percent fit for the off season and beyond

Chris is just kidding himself if he thinks that it is only the knee issue causing his speed issues

I'm going to beb extremely interested to see how Widdop returns next season from his injury

Yeah agree happy. It shows he is tough, it also shows he shouldnt be playing at the moment. We havent been a realistic chance to make the 8 since round 1 therefore it isnt do or die whether he plays for us. Is he being made play? Or is it that he suspects his head is also on the block?

The left edge is always our problem in defence and he is the constant.

In the modern era of NRL you cannot afford to have such a glaring weakness with the amount of research and opposition video teams do.

He is contracted here for a while and I don't see anyone taking his full contract so it is worth seeing where he is at next years performances

Never say never smeg, if someone is willing to take moltzen off our hands then anything is possible.
Poor old Lawrence is just not the same anymore but I keep waiting for just that little sign that he could be back. Still runs a nice hard line but that's about it at this stage.

Bunch of drama queens.
He wasn't bad enough to write home about.
Had a good contest with Hurrell, you could tell there was a bit of malice between them.
Simona/Locke are very quick so given the extra 10m they had on him it's not much to go by.
Knee injuries can be very debilitating Happy. From a biomechanics point of view the knee is attached to a lot of important muscles and contains a lot of essential ligaments.
He isn't done and dusted like you all think.

Lawrence played ok. Showed some good signs in attack but he is horrible under a high ball.
I don't remember ever seeing lawrence take a bomb comfortably.

All and sundry wonder why the club is buying centres speaks for itself, sounds like excuses for mine seems to move ok to me just slowly!

The left edge is always our problem -hmm interesting that in the SMH it says that we are worst in the comp for worst right side defence this year with 40 tries conceded but hey don't let's facts get in the way of your criticism especially as Chris despite playing injured was one of our best last night

He tries hard but that is about the only positive I can see at the moment. After some terrible performances early in the year I thought he was coming good but it was obvious again last night he doesn't have what is needed for a first grade centre at the moment. He has really poor lateral movement now and doesn't seem to want to slide in defense. Seems to want to rush up and in but he doesn't have the speed to get there anymore, all he is doing is creating gaps. He would be better off just staying in the line and trying to get back in support quicker. I really hope he comes good but he is a very easy target at the moment with his lack of speed and mobility.

I would imagine the line breaks is heavily skewed the other way having watched every game this year

When simon mannering demolishes you in a race for the ball it's probably time to hang up the boots, at least as a NRL centre. I think I counted 2 tries tonight as a result of Lawrence. He opened up a similar hole to what siro did earlier and also had a headstart on a 2nd rower but couldnt beat him for the ball.

Nothing he did tonight requires him to stay in the centres. Move him into the back row where he can still play similar in attack, but won't be pressured as much in defence and feel the need to rush in, nor have to try to take high kicks and drop them.

Richards looking good for left centre.

Wow I was at the game and he looked dangerous all night and made 120 meters, 1 try , 1 line break and didn't miss a tackle and all this on a night when he got heavily hit a couple of times . He was one of our best is probably getting my points as top 3 tonight

Agreed i thought he started to look like his old self. Cant crucify a guy for not beating Mannering who by the way was a centre and could still play there. Lawry had to stop turn and chase on the inside shoulder. Sure he's no simona in the pace department anymore but an experienced edge player - we need players like that

Boonboon2 that stat in the smh this morning is not worth the paper it's written on. The team has conceded 77 tries this season overall. I just quickly checked the highlights over the season from the nrl website. It's defintely the left that has conceded over 40 tries. One thing I noticed is that every player that's has been defending on that side has made some terrible defensive mistakes at some stage.

For me it wasn't the mannering chase..it was the Simona kick and chase..when Simona kicked infield for Chris..and he couldn't get anywhere close..watch the replay and you will clearly see what I mean..think we will find that Chris realises his problem and retires at the end of the season.

That's the one I picked up too. It looked like he was dragging tires once Simona took off.

But on the other hand, Mannering started out as a centre too and has transitioned into a handy backrower; I think he and Rowdy are much alike right now.
