He's at the top of the list re: club legend status - ahead of Skando, Benji Robbie etc

Geez that's going a bit far. Take nothing away from the guy and all respect for Lawrence. He has had a tough run and his story and career longevity ensures his being revered as a tiger legend, stalwart and excellent club man amongst other things; but he is nowhere near the status of Benji or Robbie.
Benji and Robbie played for us for longer, were great players, rep players, won us a GF, and will go down in Tiger folklore not only as icons of this club but of Rugby League.

Rowdy was damn quick and had serious potential in his first 5 years, and it was so sad how injury ruined his career.
That was nearly 10 years ago. I'm happy he has been with us, but maybe that's for sentimental reasons only.

Does he have a contract here post 2019?

No he doesn't, but as I said before he is the only player who we can utilise the long service player allowance for (300K IIRC,) which is outside the cap. We can resign him under this and still not chew up cap on others.

I don't think it is taken it a bit far! He has never left the club, the others both left on extremely bad terms. He has also never said a bad word about the club. I rate both Benji and Robbie very highly but due to those reasons they are pipped by both Chris and Hodgo.

Wait until Lawrence scores the winning try in a grand final for us, THEN he will have a status

Rubbish..Marshall and Farah may get the accolades for that GF but it was blokes like Galea, Fulton, Heighington Hodgo, Prince, Halatau, Fitzhenry and Lafachinchi that won it for us..

Lawrence I dare say if born a year earlier would have been part of it as well..@cochise sums up Rowdy's contribution to our Club well...Club Legend on and off the field no doubts..

@Madge
It all comes back to his hip injury..... his foot doesn’t come within coo-ee of the ball.

You're joking right?

It’s true. People who have used him as their punching bag over the years forget that. Either out of convienicnce or ignorance. Sky was the limit pre injury. He could hit a hole as good as anyone that’s ever played the game. Sadly, a big part of him as a footballer died that night. And what’s most sad about it is that the injury happened in the last 2 minutes when the game was already won. A total waste.

It's complete BS that he cant touch the ball with his foot. In saying that, I've never really taken notice of his play the balls. I think if he was asked, then he'd laugh. He was awful as a centre for years after the injury and I wanted him gone. Not because I didn't like the guy, but he simply wasn't any good in that position and that's where he stayed. Since his move to the forwards, he's been terrific. But suggesting that his movement is that limited is crazy. If he touches it once, the theory is blown out of the water.

He copped an unrelenting and undeserved barrage on here. He was criticised for his contract, a contract he signed when he was one of the best centres in the game. His contract value wasn't unreasonable at the time of signing and he was injured horribly while representing our club, the club many of his critics professed to love. He then restructure his deal and took a massive pay cut and people still bashed him. He has given our club so much I'm happy for him to decide when he has had enough and I'm happy for him to have a place in our squad until that time. It's not like he costs us any of our limited salary cap!

I'm not saying he doesn't deserve to play on, nor do I question his worth as a club man or have any issue whatsoever with him playing on and being payed accordingly given his dedication & commitment to the club. As Ink has said, I think he's top of the pile. More-so than Farah and Marshall. I just think it's ridiculous to suggest he can't touch the ball with his foot because of injury. Every time I see him get up slowly (and that's often), I feel his pain. Those bones look tired and sore. I hope he doesn't drive himself into the ground. He deserves to go out after a finals campaign after all his efforts, be it this year, next or beyond. Time is running out though. For what it's worth, I wasn't alone in thinking he was gone when he came back after injury. His performances weren't good enough often enough. A move to the pack changed everything for him.

Big fan of his, though I did not think he would be a regular starter last year. Happy for him that he proved me oh so wrong and was our best behind Brooks over the season.

Chris has gone as well as can be expected coming back from such a horrendous facial injury and was rightly brought straight back into the seventeen by the coach. Respect!

No you weren't some of the stuff he copped on here bordered on disgusting. This was a guy who ruined his body representing OUR CLUB who was fighting to get back to where he was previously. The heart he showed should have been an inspiration to our players and fans. Instead people relentlessly bagged him!
