People take exception to the strangest things. Seriously.
Chris Lawrence could walk into a centrelink and get on disability pension with that injury. He is in for a world of hurt when he gets old. Those hip injuries really get you later.

I wish him the best outside football but whilst a playing for the Tigers I can't stand seeing him still playing. Even ESL didn't want him. That's speak volumes if a 2nd tier comp doesn't want you.
We are the retirement home club. We earnt that title.

Well you certainly seem to know about disability pensions and Centrelink

Good to see you know everything, obviously reading too much telecrap.

I really feel sorry for you cause your hate is going to last a long time, Chris will be around the club for many year to come after he hangs up his boots, just to annoy supporters like you. Good luck with that

Let me address your claims.
I don't live in Australia. When I did I never claimed a single payment from our government
People get disability pensions for having a lesser injury. You can just cry bad back and get supported for your entire life. Chris has a genuine claim.

I dont read the telegraph. I'm behind a paywall so I gave up years ago googling the links to bypass it. Not worth the effort.

Chris deserves to be captain. He is the most experienced man on the team. We don't have anyone better and that's the whole issue.
Look what we have to settle for. A guy who will probably need a cane to walk in a decade .

 Don't know what decade you left Australia matchball but that is a thing of the past.
If you are a white Aussie male under the pension age, and can still breathe unassisted for a few hours a day, they consider you fit enough to work.

Yeah to get those sort of benefits these days you need to be an unemployed black muslim single mother…if you could also be gay or trangendered that would seal the deal. A white boy like Chris wouldnt stand a chance....

I can't see this thread as being the correct part of the forum to espouse narrow-minded, two-party views on the world.

Congratulations to Chris Lawrence - a man who has given his ability to walk unhindered in his near future to the ongoing work at the Tigers.

How dare anyone say that they want players to bleed for their football team; and then refuse to acknowledge the contribution when a player does exactly that.

Trigger alert!
Trumper requires the wambulance…stat!

Clever!
Stop being a parody of the people you admire, and step down, because that's the only direction available to you.

Lawrence is a great man to have in a team.
Who else would even attempt to take Brooks' kamikaze passes.

Mate most other sides in the comp would have transitioned Chris to coaching or club staff many years ago. We however continued to employ him on good dollars even though he is in a diminished capacity due to recurring and sustained injuries from that horrible incident at the start of 2011\. That is my point. Im not attacking the guy personally and acknowledge that he mostly gives his all for the club on the field and is a hard working role model off it. The simple fact to me is that he hasnt been a first grade standard player continuously since 2011 due to circumstances out of his control (i.e. his speed dramatically decreased) and yet he is rewarded as being so. I claimed that if he is again a starting player in the squad next year after the big clean out and rebuild then we havent spent our money properly. Id keep him on the bench purely for his experience and offer him a club role as quickly as is possible because having him involved with the club off the field is worth more to us than he is on it.

OK… Chris Lawrence had a lot of positives, namely SPEED when he was younger. He has lost that speed, but he can still defend and take tackles.
It seems sometime around 2014 someone thought "lets move him to the second row". He has transitioned and he is the ONLY player we have who can use the 300K allowance for senior players.

Yes, we should have put our money on someone else. Sure we could have sent the 300K to Farah and moved Lawrence to coaching (I don't know why, I don't think he is a particularly good player for a coach...maybe defensive coach and that's it). Maybe told Farah to bulk up and move him to second row/lock while Ballin/Little/Mckilrick etc go Hooker. But we did not.

I don't get why you would punt him from the 25\. Maybe the 17, but the 25\. He is a free money player and lets us splurge on others.

The usual trolls just love these emotive threads

We have pea hearts who tank and dog it… We have players who show the slightest bit of ability can't wait to get out... We have players undermine and knife others in the back....
.... And we have some here who give it to a bloke who gives it everything every time he takes the field

I have no idea why anyone would target Lawrence within our current team. We've had some sad saps that have pulled on our jersey over the last couple of years whereas Lawrence has been an absolute champion for our club.

I think that you should change "Step down" to "step up" because when are in the gutter the only direction is up.

I have an opinion that might not be popular but it's mine. Calling people trolls for having one isn't a way to disagree with one.
I read your posts and you just side with popular opinions so I don't take much offence.

Chris wouldn't get a start anywhere. We gave him the right to look around but no interest. Even ESL wasn't interested.
Let's get real here.
He should have retired but we were broke as **** to pay him out.
That's the only reason he is still here and busting his hump week in and week out is impressive but he's also ineffective.

He scores a try last week and now his the best. Unbelievable.
