Lawrence to weigh up future after ruling out Super League move

If were talking around $150K or less, then I say sign him to one more year. We are not in a position to buy too many players for next season and for that money we won't find a guy that offers everything that Chris does to our club. He may well be a back up or bench player in 2020, but if he gets game time you know you will always get 100% effort.

Every club needs a player like Chris Lawrence He will be on a small deal and his value is in his connection and loyalty to the club. Have seen how fans crack on about players joking around with each other after games - that's why - because the clubs have created an atmosphere of who cares who I play for as long as I get paid.
Coaches know the value of players like Lawrence no problem with another year if the Maguire goes that way.

I think you mean that every club needs a "guy" like Chris Lawrence.
Fair call.
But a "player" like him?
No club needs that. At least not a club with ambitions of finishing higher than 9th.

Don't often agree with you Siro but you are 100% correct here.
Excellent post.

No I meant what I said. Player/man/ guy - he is not the reason we finished ninth this year, and presents good value compared to some of our current contracted players. Don't usually like to point the finger at individual players for laying blame on 'team results" but if I had to, can think of 4 or 5 ahead of Lawrence who offered very little - and don't think it's wise to make him the fall guy for under performers content to collect their pay check each week. Paying too much for players who don't perform is what has contributed to us coming 9th not Chris Lawrence - imo.

I’d rather him on the bench thank MCK tbh, he’s a waste of space.

I'd rather have neither

@TYGA So his spot is wasted in the top 30 due to already spots needed to bolster the team .

Not really at a 100k contract he’s be invaluable depth and leadership. I just don’t think he starts in front of younger players. Injuries hit teams so I would sign him on a low contract no doubt. We need to move on other players not performing on higher salaries to create spots and flexibility with the cap.

So there goes a spot in an already lack lustre roster taken up by a player looking for a retirement funded season playing in the Reggie’s ... unfortunately our club is so incompetent in these matters ,Rowdy should of been shown the door .. but wait his impact on yesterday’s game was immense.. NOT ! Another contract for an old boy that has no impact ,the mediocrity cycle this club surrounds itself with is mind boggling!

Farah, Marshall and Lawrence have been in the team that haven't made the 8 for a very long time, let them all go and get some new faces in the limited roster spots, if your not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.

Ok who's the next superstar minimum wage replacement for Lawrence that won't be wasting a spot..?

@Geo you get one from this list, or a younger guy looking for a top 30 spot from another club
We have quite a few backrowers on contract, it is a position we can cover on our roster

Had a look - no one as good as Rowdy for the same price or less imo.

Jamie Buhrer, Kurt Capewell, Jed Cartwright, Andrew Davey, Alex Glenn, Jack Gosiewski, Slade Griffin, Brodie Jones, Josh Kerr, Patrick Mago, Reuben Porter, Robbie Rochow, Scott Sorensen, Zane Tetevano, Kyle Turner, Teig Wilton, Frank Winterstein

Here's the list..who's coming for minimum wage ..Anyone half decent like Capewell, Glenn or Tetevano that maybe better isn't coming here for 100K..

Kyle Turner..?

My understanding of the situation is that a family member was involved in the rolling of Madge at Souths.

There could be more under the surface than what appears.
