Lawrence

As others have written, the constant shuffling in positions and the awful run of injury have had a big impact on Chris, he will pump up next year if the stability and injury gods are with him.

x100

Not really fair on him.
Last week - came back early from an injury
This week - may have had an avg game but it's definitely not his position.
He isn't a miracle player, I think people's expectations are just too high given the circumstances and the players around him

constant shuffling doesn't help anyone's game

Yeah dont help the club when we have injuries left right and centre either…but as i will get told no excuses...he had a terrible season

Most coaches, when they get an injury, replace that player with 1 player. Not shuffle 4 players out of position. Our injury toll looks worse because of Sheens selections.

yeah I reckon that has done the most damage, rather than players getting injured.

When Lawrence came into grade on the wing he was a gun. Wing is his position. Again sheens tried to make a player into something their not

i agree, he's an ideal winger. think of the combo if you had him running outside marshall (who i would like to see in the centres).. it is lethal. guys like moltzen and whoever at 6 and 7 are just ball shifters… its ideal..

Lawrence is one guy I would not be turning my back on at all. The guy has proven himself to be a world class player for a number of seasons.

This isn't like Ayshford who had nothing more than 1-2 good games and a few solid ones and everyone started calling him "amazing". Lawrence dominated the NRL for years, just making line break after line break.

He has now had one average year, where he was moved out of position too much. I wonder how Justin Hodges or Josh Morris would go at five eigth? The fact is Lawrence is not even a ball playing centre, he's just an athlete. Him kicking out on the full last night would not happen if he was at centre. Secondly, he's probably been a little unfit most of the year.

Lastly I just make the point, that this year our back line has looked so pedestrian, when in fact, it has been the EXACT same for the last 3 years. The one single difference is that Lawrence didn't fire this year. The fact he was so good in the previous years hid the unpotentcy of guys like Tuquiri, Ryan, Ayshford and Moltzen. Benjis old move was to just run across field and hit Lawrence on the fly, and he didn't have that this year, and Benji was seriously lost for answers.

First u start the thread saying we should move him on for offering nothing this year. Most people in here agreeing it's because he has been played out if position. Then u suggest that he should be played on the wing (out of position once again considering he has been a centre for the past few years and no longer has the physique/speed for the wing).

To compound things you wanna move Benji out of 7, a position he has been playing nearly all year when he should have been at 6 and make him play Centre a position I do not recall him playing since his first couple of years in FG so will have to learn again at the age of 28.

Oh yeah, and put Moltz and whoever else in the halves… Really???

And I thought most people agreed that the problem this year was playing players out of position!

My last post was in response to mtd's post about moving Chris to Wing and Benji to Centre btw… Forgot to quote it, ooops!

Lawrence is the kind of player you have to give an opportunity to. If he fires he is right back up there with the best centers in the world. The bloke just needs a full season without injury playing in the same position without some idiot trying to cement his legacy telling him his future is at 5/8th.

he has played centre most of the season.

he not longer has the physique/speed for the wing? look at utai, look at uate, look at sam perrett. 3 different shaped wingers. lawrence lacks involvement and his fortae is finishing with speed (which he still has).kick returns, scooting from dummy half - it gets him back in the game. he's wasted at centre and is not the same player he was for the past 3 years when he has played there previouly.

learn again? sorry, but if you think he couldnt pick it up in a heartbeat you are dreaming. he isnt learning 3 different dialects of an asian language, he's defending and attacking slightly wider. as i've said before, he is not a natural play maker, he is better in broken field play (like barba). hes wasted at 6 or 7 when all they do these days is act as pivots to shift the ball wide. his spark is better utilised elsewhere.

moltzen grew up playing in the halves, trained there all offseason. played there a few years ago pre injury and killed it. is the ideal combination with sirronen. i guess you think moltzen is a fullback? LOL

they are played out of position. moving players back aka lawrence, moltzen is the required move imo… shift benji to centres where he can have free reign no pressure and watch the kid fly... the pressure and reliance upon him at the moment is a big part of our problems.

Lawrence is a centre… let the bloke stay there and regain confidence after an injury marred couple of seasons. He was arguably the best centre in the game before this season. A fully firing Lawrence playing outside Benji wearing his No.6 jersey playing inside the flyer that is Koro seems a mouth watering prospect for me.

Benji is a 6 plain and simple.... best player in the world there a couple of seasons ago and is proven to tear opposition sides apart in this position when given space to utilise his running game and not have to worry about organising the team.

Moltzen IMO shouldn't be in the side as he has shown this year that he is not FG material but since we have signed him for 3 more seasons then he should be that back on the bench that our beloved coach seems to love. Whilst you point out that he played his junior footy there he has never cemented himself in the halves during his FG career. He is not a genuine organising halfback, if you had to put him in the halves it would be at 6 as his best attribute is his running game and support play.

All we need in this team is a new coach, a genuine no nonsense organising Halfbck and an extra prop!!!

swiss, for every good ball marshall throws, there is an equally horrible one. does JT do this? does Foran do this? does DCE do this? ppl are constantly making excuses for him because its 'benji'. open your eyes. he is better served for the TEAM in a position where he can hit the ball with speed, run in open play and enjoy the game without the pressure of organising. he creates chances which reflects in the stats, yes, but so would barba if he were in the halves. it doesn't necessarily mean its his best position as we have seen this year.

MTD, playing in centre brings other pressures apart from not having to organise. Centre in a very tough position to defend and we all know defence has never been his strong point. Having him at centre will further highlight these deficiencies in his game.

Centres also need quality ball to put to use they're running game in space, who of our halves is gonna provide him this quality ball?
