Lawry

A career wasted. Crazy to think in a 2 year period we lost 3 players to career killing injuries (Rowdy, Tuiaki, Dwyer). I know Rowdy has gone on to player another decade, but not as the player he could have been. Instead of finishing his career as one of the best 3 players to ever play for us, he’ll finish his career as one of the most maligned.

You can add Moltzen to this group, after injury he was not the same player.:disappointed:

What do with do with Lawry?

He offers absolutely nothing off the bench. I can't think of anyone 'less' suited to the bench.

So, he has to start...or go.

What does he offer? Well, he is good at pressuring kickers and none of our forwards did that yesterday. Taylor had forever to place his kicks.

So, he does fulfill a 'need' we have. He works hard and can defend.

Against that...he offers very little else and he would probably need to take Garner's spot / Garner to the bench.

Garner has been very good, so that would be tough.

But it has to be starting or gone. The balance is all wrong with him at 17.

So...what to do with him?

Start? or Gone?

Well Madge has made the decision for him to start.

This might also be one of his last games if he can't perform.
Madge will know it and so will he and a much easier conversation if that's the case, think we all know its his final year.

Great Club man maybe one year too much but can understand offering him a 1 year deal based upon the pre-season injury last year, shows some loyalty by the club and respecting his throughout the years of being a one club player.

Watching with Interest this weekend based upon mass changes and think this game will determine retention policy of players moving forward in 2021.

Well said mate, agree with all you said.

As other have said, CL is a club legend and I thank him so much for all he has done for the club - he was a very good player who I think could easily have become a great player (SOO/Aus regular) but for the wicked hip injury

He is not a bench player and all he can possibly add is as a starter - he works hard, tackles hard , runs great lines still, but as we all know has hands like feet.

I feel this weekend is his defining game - in so far as he is fit and Madge has put him in the SLU. He will lift and play a blinder or....... his footy career here will be done and dusted

I for one wish him the all the best and hope he slays it (even then, he shouldn't be here next year at all)

Hopefully the retention policy will be for all players contracted or not ! That’s how you change the culture..

Maguire has retained Brooks, Marshall, Lawrence, Twal, Garner, Chee-Kam, Aloiai, Liddle and Thompson since he's been here...

Pretty much, apart from Brooks - the rest are on cheap contracts.

Agree totally, Chris either starts in the run-on side or not all for mine.
