Just reading on League Unlimited - Unconfirmed rumours that Te Maire Martin is in talks with Raiders and Sharks. I have no idea of the authenticity of this. How long have we got this kid under contract for?

Do "contracts" mean anything anymore :nerd:

Every half in the game has been linked with Raiders and Sharks lately….
In saying that, his best chance of playing first grade and having a regular starting spot is not at Wests Tigers.

He's 18…...yet to even lace on a boot in first grade...I'm pretty sure he's on contract with us for next year ..

They can have Austin but hands off Martin!

I imagine he's on a 2 year NYC contract, but we should really be upgrading him at the end of the season.

There will undoubtedly being a dozen clubs interested in him, as he's the standout 5/8 of the season.

Right on time. Another rumour.

The NRL wants SBW and IF back playing league. They have given the Wests Tigers new board enough money to implement this over the next two seasons.

Way to go!!!!

I don't doubt they are after this kid its a wonder to me that every club in the nrl wouldn't be chasing his signature he looks brilliant but he still has to step up to 1st grade very small but only 18 or 19

His management company has come out and stated he is contracted to Tigers for 2015.

And we need to be starting talks to lock him into a longer term contract ASAP. Clubs can already poach him for 2016\. The trick is how do we get him to re-sign given the existing contracts for Moses, Brooks and Tedesco?

He obviously faces competition for the halves, and could get opportunities in his favoured position sooner at other clubs.

If we can re-sign some of the other Keebra boys the whole club culture and mateship thing may come into play. So Seve, Liolevave and Heleta could all be in line for new contracts too. As they should in any case.

Someone has to learn to play centre!

Potter came out at the end of the pre season this year and signaled him out for special praise in front of the two wonder kids. For most of the year he was flying under the radar but now the other clubs know how good he is. The problem we will face is, being able to offer him a career path and of course money.

I would imagine it will be a case of three in two or if Austen sticks around four into two dosen't go and he will take a big offer in 2016 else where

For those who have seen more of Martin than me, do you think he could play in the centres? I think he would go well there, although you wouldn't get to take as much advantage of his fantastic passing game.

1\. Tedesco
2\. Nofoaluma
3\. Martin
4\. Simona
5\. Richards/Naiqama (if signed)
6\. Moses
7\. Brooks

looks good for late next year.

Former Hamilton Boys' High School first XV rugby player Te Maire Martin is following in the footsteps of his rugby league idol Benji Marshall with Wests Tigers in Sydney.
>
Martin, 18, is in his first year in the Tigers under-20 side where he starts regularly at standoff, was recently made co-captain of the team and has just been named in the Holden Cup 2014 NYC team of the year.
>
The former Hamilton BHS team-mate and friend of Bryn Gatland, who has stuck with the rugby union path back in Hamilton, Martin played rugby exclusively as his winter code until 2012, having represented Waikato at various age group levels.
>
In year 12 when he decided to also play rugby league at age group level for the Turangawaewae club.
>
Given an ultimatum by his school to make a choice, he chose rugby league, got a trial with Marshall's old Gold Coast school Keembra Park High at the end of 2012 and moved to Australia at the start of last year.
>
Playing regularly at standoff, Martin helped guide Keembra Park to win the Australian national schools title, earning player of the match honours in the final and then a two-year NYC contract with Wests Tigers.
>
He is originally from Taharoa and a cousin of former Waikato, Chiefs and Blues representative Jackson Willison.
>
A talented touch player, he represented New Zealand at under-18 level and was in the Hamilton BHS team that won the national secondary schools title in 2012.
>
Martin's adopted mother, Suzy Cooper, said her son had been ''quite surprised'' to be named in the NYC team of the year as the standoff and was definitely looking ahead to a playing career in the NRL and with an eye on a future Kiwis jersey.
>
Having played rugby union most of his life he has been excited to follow Marshall to Keembra Park and Wests Tigers and was compared to Marshall by the school coach.
>
''Put it this way. Benji's book is the only book he's read,'' Cooper said.
>
Martin had lived with his aunty on the Gold Coast while at Keembra Park last year, but had struggled when he first went to Sydney this year due to lack of family there.
>
A flatting situation with several young players did not work out and he now boards with the family of team-mate Nathan Milone.
>
Wests Tigers are guaranteed a Holden Cup top eight playoffs berth, sitting in sixth spot and with a chance today to move into the top four if the win their next match, which is being shown live on Sky Television.

Article on TMM from a few weeks ago.

Disappointing that he wasn't able to settle down in a flat with his teammates but good to see that the captain Milone has offered him a home with his family in any case. Fly his mum down to Sydney and set her up with a job. He'll be worth the investment!

Martin's best attribute is his passing game. If anything i'd be tempted to move Moses and possibly Tedesco to accommodate TMM at 5/8.

Brooks and Moses may have been the original plan, but that was before TMM came along. You've got to keep the talent as this kid will be the Kiwis 5/8 for a long time to come.
