Can anyone elaborate on the comments made numerous times by the abc commentary that todays game may well be the last time a first grade game will be played at leichardt?
I've tried to
Find the source of this and can't.

I heard that too. WTF. Tell anyone who cares to listen that if we leave Leichardt for good so will i and the 12 season tickets that my mates and family get every year. It's the heart and soul of this club.

People aren't concerned about us not playing at Leichhardt? I would have thought there would have been plenty more replies than this. Does anyone have confirmation on what was said ?

Didn't here what was said.

If there was no Leichhardt watch memberships drop and the club fall awayt. 3 or 4 games is perfect.

None would be an utter disaster for the club.

People aren't concerned because it sounds like crap. They just put a whole bunch of seats in there! Anyway if anyone is really concerned I'm sure an email to the club will set things straight.

I noticed on the weekend and made mention to a couple of friends… That the whole area comes alive on game day!!
There is just a vibe about the place!!
It isn't like that out Campbelltown...
I don't wanna upset the Magpie Boys, But the exitement isn't in the air on game day out there...
And before I am unjustly accused of Bias... Campbelltown is an hour closer to my house!!
I don't know what it is about Leichhardt, But the anticipation oozes up to a Game.... Something that I've not experienced anywhere else in the Game??
It's mind boggling!! WIN, Bruce, SFS, Penny Park, Campbelltown... None of them has the atmosphere in the air walking to the game that Leichhardt has....
As much as some may disagree.... I can see why it has the Rep it does!!

I live in Bradbury & love going to both venues but i think there is more atmosphere @ Leichhardt & people are willing to travel from Campbelltown but not Leichhardt to Campbelltown, only my opinion

The issue is more people such as myself from north of Sydney or the Central Coast. Leichhardt is a long trip but Campbelltown is a 4 hour round trip from the coast. A very long day but for a night game it is close to impossible.

x2

I know lots that make the horrendous trip to Leichhardt from Macarthur way - In some ways going to a Canberra game from our area is easier, and less time consuming.

However nothing, NOTHING beats a Leichhardt game for atmosphere.

:sign:

I'm more referring to the whole area (more than just the game itself) The streets through the
leichhardt, lilyfield right back up to Parramatta Rd is Buzzing with Tigers…
It's like nothing I've witnessed!!

I loved the atmosphere yesterday and have enjoyed some wonderful times at Leichhardt Oval since 2000\. But the time has come to part with the old girl. The facilities just aren't good enough for a strong and successful club like ours. A 30,000 purpose built stadium needs to be built - the location I'm not sure of.

The way people were jammed in yesterday, sitting on stairs, standing on walkways blocking people's view, the lack of decent toilets on the hillside, parking, lack of size I could go on. A tough decision needs to be made in order for our club to go on and flourish. It would also mean we could play the big games/semi finals at our home ground. A bit of a pipe dream but Leichhardt oval is not capable of taking us into the future. A WESTS TIGERS Leagues Club could also be built which would strengthen our position amongst Sydney Clubs. Thoughts?

Gave my thoughts in the other thread where you enquired with the same question

Has it got anything to do with the leagues club??? Are they trying to put pressure on the council to accept their DA???

Although game day must be quite disruptive for the people who live near the ground, the people who run businesses in the area must love it and I would think the council picks up a lot of revenue from the ground hire not to mention all the parking tickets issued to the punters who run the gauntlet.
