Wests Tigers forward Luciano Leilua said he and his teammates are ready to match it with the best teams in the competition with the side set for a month a blockbuster fixtures.

Following the club’s impressive win over the ladder leading Panthers last Friday night, Michael Maguire’s men will now face the other three top four teams in consecutive matches — Parramatta (3rd), Melbourne (2nd) and South Sydney (4th).

“It’s going to be a good test for us — to see where we are against the top teams,” Leilua said.

“We can really put some teams on notice and show that we can make the top eight. From there, we can keep going.

“We can win big games. This is a perfect chance for us to beat the top teams and put ourselves in a good position.”

Not intimidated to face the competition’s highest-ranked clubs, Leilua said he’s ready for the challenge and is confidence his side can perform well this month.

“We want to be playing the best teams. As a footy player, you want to play in the big games against the winning teams and we’re up for the challenge over the next month,” he said.

“I love this middle part of the season. It’s a good chance for us to get a few wins before the backend of the year.”

Claiming back-to-back wins for the first time this season, including defeating the top-ranked team, has given Wests Tigers a massive confidence boost at the halfway stage of the season — according to Leilua.

“It was a great game for us. We know they had a few players out because of State of Origin, but our boys brought the energy and played well — we still had a job to do and we got it done,” he said.

“Getting back-to-back wins gets the monkey off the back and now we’re looking to make it three wins in a row.”

Wests Tigers will now turn their attention to Sunday’s match against the Eels at Bankwest Stadium as they hunt for three-straight wins for the first time since 2018.

“They’re a good side all across the park so we know we’re going to have to be at our best,” Leilua said.

“We need to try to slow down their middle third and shut down their edges. It’s going to be a good Sunday footy showdown.”

It good to see their thinking and talking that way let's hope they can put it into action

We often talk the talk but forget to walk the walk

What would a game buid-up be without FLUFF?

And I wouldn't think that if we were a consistent/winning team; sure, I've loved the last 2 wins, great for the boys and the fans, but we are still a long way short of the top teams - and yes, I can see lots of positives, especially in the projected pathways program into the future.

*So long as the other top 4 teams are missing a handful of their best players
We'll have to wait and see.. Hopefully the Panthers game really was a turning point.

Probably best we wait until we talk...these same media pieces have been released for years now and they tend to be followed up by big let downs.

We have beaten:
Injury depleted Knights
Injury depleted Dragons
Panthers minus Origin players

We need a big scalp before there is any real proof of going up a level. I think we may well beat Parra, but let's talk after we do it...

Can we make similar excuses when we lost a game?
Oh, we lost just because we didn't have a few players!:astonished:

Oh man not one of these articles. Here are a few pump-up pieces which have gone wrong for us:
- BJ Leilua: "Best centre in the world? You're looking at him."
- Roberts & Nofa are living together and will form a great combination.
- Tamou: "Douiehi needs to control the team" (moved from 5/8 the next week)

Serious question: you’ve just pointed out our wins have only arisen when we’ve played teams disadvantaged by injury or SOO. What makes you think we can beat a near full strength parramatta?

No, let’s talk now 😁 . It takes confidence, belief in your teammates and some courage to talk like that. If being the first team to beat the Panthers this season has put a spring in their step, then I say good luck to them, and thank you to the Panthers for igniting the fire in them.

We have to wait another week till we play the Storm for a top team. Parra proved against Souths and Manly that they aren’t one of them.

Wests Tigers media training, “full credit to the boys on last weeks win” or “we’re just taking it one week at a time” - no need to deviate.

I think we finally have balance.

Blore and Seyfarth have balanced the pack as both can tackle and are mobile. First six rounds we were badly balanced, bringing blokes like Musgrove off the bench who can't move side to side.

The halves also have finally found a combination that works.

AD also means we have one side of the field covered defensively out wide.

The spine is really clicking also.

My main concerns, as always, are Nofa and Talau. Both capable of two dumb mistakes each...we are not good enough to cover multiple poor errors from them.

If they can just be solid, we can win.

Parra are a notch or two down from Riff or Storm, but it will give us a very good indication where we are at. Although very beatable, I think we are still a notch or two behind where Parra are. Anyway I think we will be in the contest unlike many games this year
