Pete, I think what most people are trying to get at is because Fitzy is "solid" (which i think is very generous), why not try a younger guy? Deadset, how much worse could he be?! Ok, he goes exactly the same as Fitzy. At least we know that the guys in reserve grade aren't being wasted.
If he sets the world on fire, Sheens can go away and stuff his face with some humble pie.

But then I think it's a very poorly constructed top 25 that we have backs coming out of our you know what but find it hard to rotate other positions.

Sadly, thats what it comes back to. There wasn't much sense in signing Cayless and Tupou who had long term doubts over them, especially on top of signing average footballers in Fitzhenry, Daniela and Brown. It's just not clever and the end result is that if you run into a few problems with player availability, as we have your going to have little room to move with the cap. Especially too when you consider that outside payments count towards the cap next year which we're already running close to,

That of course leads to the situation we're in which is that there's very little room for change, other than with contracted top 25 players, so where others should be given a run, we probably can't afford to do so. Blame the club and it's recruitment for the lack of flexibility we now have.

I think we need to take a quality V quantity approach when signing players.

We typically go for 3-4 fringe players rather than a marquee signing, and this has been going on for years.

Tuqiri was a gun marquee signing, but we also signed plenty of useless extras

We cant sign 5 marquee players a year…. others are just for depth...

Sure you can replace Ayshyford, Pritchard, Daniela, Fitzy and all those others but that is pretty much replacing like with like. Its not the young or second tier players that are the cause of the rubbish being served up. I expect Lui to be rusty first up, I expect Ayshford to get found out in defence occassionally and I expect Fifita to drop a ball occassionally what I can't cop is Benji Marshall getting 13m in attack (I travel further to the crapper) and Farah playing like a weekend Stevie the man child trying to do everything himself. They should have give their pay to charity last week the pair of them. AS someone else said, it is our supposed leaders letting us down not our bit players that you all want to replace.
