Well Nofo ended up with the MOM award last night

Oh my..grabs popcorn..

He owes Chad Townsend a steak dinner

C'Mon I loved it when he made the Chad and Duges look like hoarded toilet paper and Williams a speed bump..

Did you love all the 2nd tackle negative or negigible metre gains ....that many times he steps inside ...get flogged and ends up going backwards because he has no momentum

Ah that ole chestnut...Yet he still makes the most metres of anyone in our team consistently..

189m last night...30m in front of everyone else..go figure

2 runs of 60 metres where he was basically untouched helps those numbers

How many hit ups did he have compared to everyone else matters as well

Doesn't show it in the Fantasy stats ....

Oh so now he's in trouble for running 60m in 2 goes..lol...14 runs in total

Equally led tackle breaks as well..

Also threw one the best winger passes for Garner's try, that was a great ball.

Watch it again ...his eyes were closed

I really think those who rush to blame nofo for any tries down his side lack a fundamental understanding of how defence works. The problems on the right side began on the edge far inside bj and nofo, where a 2 man overlap developed. This was exacerbated by the ability of Graham to run or kick, which made running out of the line to shut it down dangerous.

Also, cronulla were onto nofo running the ball out and cutting back inside. Either the 9 needs to run and engage the markers who the pass needs to be wider to get nofo outside the markers. I think it could be a key focus at training this week.

Let's go back a game
Contest for the bloody ball Nofoluma
How hard is it
How can a player in the NRL who is in a great position to catch the ball not even attempt to catch it
Don't make excuses for his defensive lapses
Opposition teams target Nofolumas wing for a reason
Nofoluma is great with the ball in hand but without it, it's completely another story
I would love to see the team stats with tries conceeded
Nofoluma's wing would have to be miles ahead with tries conceeded

Agreed, most of the time it is his wing, BUT....

It is not always his fault, most of the time it is the players closer to the ruck rather than the right outside centre and right winger.

I thought you would have picked that up.

Why, do you think he has not been dropped by three different coaches. They know.

I don't get to see every game
But for those I don't see, I listen to or see the replays
Look at how Brett or Josh Morris chased down and tackled two south's players in the one play on Friday night
That was outstanding
These guys were ment to have been passed thier used by date but they just keep on performing
I have never seen Nofoluma defend like that EVER
Maybe the coaches think that Nofolumas carries out weigh his defensive issues
Or maybe they don't think we have anyone better for his wing position
Something needs to change
Over all the years Nofoluma has been our right winger, it has always been an area of concern
It doesn't matter who has been inside him
Nofoluma has always been the common denominator
Our right side has been broken for years and it's time to fix it

How many wingers do defend like Brett Morris did the other night?

The biggest change which has gone mostly unnoticed were the metres by Aloai, Mikalele and Twal. Moving Twal to lock has made us solid in the middle and we now have 3 guys running over 100 metres. It was a huge weakness in previous seasons. We need more impact off the bench Musgrove has to come in for mine.

I understand what’s being said. Nofa made good metres overall, but his dirty hit ups weren’t really as effective last night. Quite a few times he was forced sideways or backwards and his metres is boosted by the two line breaks he made, However his second half was tremendous and he’s a big reason we got back into the game, scoring and setting up a try to get us ahead.

His metres were boosted by 2 line breaks one was a TRY the other a TRY assist..how dare he...what was he thinking..

No ones saying it’s a bad thing mate ? the point is his dirty hit ups weren’t that effective and you can’t use his metres as a stat to say otherwise because half of his metres are from two runs, that’s all. He had a good game overall I though

happy did..

Can’t complain about those runs, it’s been a while since I’ve seen Nofa run like that. Love that he’s playing with such confidence in attack, the pass he threw was brilliant. Joey hasn’t even had to set him up yet, once he starts seeing early ball Nofa will score even more

Thought it was an unbelievable performance from every 1 to stop the momentum of that sharks side was truly impressive to watch

The most pleasing part was to hold the Sharks to nil in the second half. That’s an outstanding effort.

I can't see all the numbers but it says he has had 14 more hit ups than any other WT's player for the season ( Twal )

Maybe you can post the figures .....

Fraze posted them earlier in this thread...aren't you taking about this game...

Aloiai made 14 as well made 44 post contact metres Nofoaluma 43 pcm..

What page ....looked everywhere ...think your ignoring my questions because your argument might become flimsy at best

Post contact metres ...he made thirty odd when he scored .....

Isn't that funny
Did you notice the Jersey number he was wearing
18
Did he have fresh legs
You got me on a technicality
Maybe he should play centre because he can't tackle like that on the wing

Not a technicality, you said " Never tackled like that ever" and I'm just pointing out that's incorrect. If you look at the team sheet you'll see he started that game. I'll just add that at 64 minutes into the game and 18-0 down a lot of players might have not bothered.

And yes, I think he'd be a good centre.

He's been in our top handful of players for the last 3-4years, yet everyone focuses on his inability to shut down a 3-man overlap. The sharks markers were very aware of jumping quickly and turning him back inside last night, needs a bit more width.

Good to see some humour back on the forum, even if most of it are barbs between Statler and Waldorf.
