**live game thread** us vs the Cowboys

my play of the game was Thommo putting himself on the line with taumalolo charging at him, that took real guts....

second play of the game was the referee falling over....always a winner

Momo had a game where I can see some potential in him, and can kick a goal to boot....

robbie was awesome...led by example

forwards ate the metres

backs defused everything they had to

Entire team showed heart in defence...

I really don't understand the playing Clark for the opening 20 mins business. Our go forward halted towards the end of the game as our boys were exhausted and you've got a young prop playing no minutes.

Chee Kam just isn't an 80 min player. He had zero impact, hes just too small. He's got to bulk up. At the moment he's good to come on after 60 mins and use his agility to find a gap between some tired forwards. He's doesn't make the metres in attack to be a starting player.

Momers had a good game. Solid and unspectacular but took the right option most of the time. Would be great if he could make a few more metres with his hitups coming off our line. He was making 4-5m a hit up and that's simply not enough. He's all heart, like a bigger and slower Thompson but hopefully he can figure out how to get those extra metres. Nice finish for the try.

Our left edge defence was a massive wekaness though. Cows targetted it all night and could have very easily scored 5 tries down there. Mbye's defence is not really up to it and he whole edge gets caught a man short time after time. Changing players doesn't make it easy to be *nsync i guess but any side on their game will score 50 on us unless we can fix it urgently!

Glass half empty kind of person!

@BearComplex Nope, just a realist. If we played a top 6 side we'd have lost by plenty last night. We were average, but much less poor than the Cows.
This is how we play this season and thats ok given our roster. The way we win is by dragging teams down to our level and grinding out a bumbling error prone match. If the other team is on form we lose. That's not being negative, just an honest statement. We don't yet have the quality to compete with the Storm, Roosters etc when they're on top of their game. If the other team has an off game we've always got a chance because we're usually up for a battle.

Pretty sure we were 18 for 18 completed sets or something like that at one stage there, so not to sure about "bumbling error prone match." our rushing deference on their kicker caused a lot of THEIR errors.
Guess after following a side that delivers so little for so long, rather than break every little aspect down, I like to just sit back and smile, no matter how we do it.

On Momo's try, he showed smarts to step inside and wrong foot the defenders coming across to cover. Jennings would have went for the corner and would have been bundled into touch as he is slower than a wet week.

Guess I just want us to make the finals every season. Playing poorly won't get it done. 11 errors, 9 penalties conceded is a lot. A better team would have beaten us. If we want to be taken seriosuly as a club and start making the finals we have to aim much higher than what we have and are still producing. Madge has us going in the right direction that's for sure.

I don't look at a single win and think how great we are, I look at our season(s) as a whole and we're ultimately not good enough for large parts of every season and that's why we don't play finals footy.

I'm not saying i didn't go and enjoy a few celebratory bevvies last night after the game, i'm just not gettin carried away . And thankfully, neither is Madge.

Didn’t chee kam make over 40 tackles? Might explain his lack of impact in attack..

@Cultured_Bogan CB it is hard for Momorovski because he has Usain Bolt Mark 2 on the other wing. Makes him look real slow. But Momorosvki has footballing smarts. I think there is always room in the squad for a player of this type.

@pawsandclaws1 don’t think it’s on the wing tho.. as a centre yes, but we need some speed and class on our wings for him to be in our team moving forward.

he still isn't taking the line at real pace .....he did roll his ankle early in the 2nd half

He was MOTM tonight , but .....I dunno maybe it is just me but he isn't running at full throttle

lol

Seriously Geo ...did he hit full speed tonight once ??

Yes when he knocked the ball out of Feldt's hands

with the ball in hand .....

I'm not knocking him .....I'm asking the question

With the ball in hand I note he is up to 3rd for TRY assists in the NRL with 18..of course 17 of them were flukes..

So Federal Minister for Brooks , the question was when was the last time you saw Brooks at full speed with the ball in hand

I've checked the tape and can confirm Brooksy hit 35.7kph on the way to the PIE shop ball in hand to celebrate the win
