Now that that's over and my blood pressure has returned to normal, I'm concerned that our middle defence falls away badly when Liddle comes on. I think he's our future, but he's a bit of a liability right now.

Work in progress

I think the jury is still out on Liddle. I'm not convinced he can step up, all along ive been concerned he was too "fragile' both in strength, also just being bounced around too much by bigger opponents and tackling problems. I hope I am wrong but I think for insurance I'd like to see WT have a third back up hooker to Farah- just in case.

I'm not worried about Liddle. He will progress under Farah's tutelage. It is the other gaps in the roster which are of concern.

Nofa and Twal won this game for us.
Packer defensively in the second half was hurting blokes it was massive.
We can’t perform across the park for entire games it’s poor. Liddle doesn’t want to tackle 2 tries we’re scored off his reads.

He is not up to NRL standard defensively - he does put his body on the line but his read on the play is poor - but this is where the side falls down - he was left with Mbye on his inside on the first misread - where were the big boppers - no where to be seen - he is being isolated in defense - it was a crap read but a bigger forward should of been there to slow the man with the ball.

It’s a massive issue he is better with the ball than Farah and Brooks looks better when he is on but the defence probably due to no game time and injury is not acceptable.

ET was missed defensively slowing down the play the ball but he offers nothing with the ball. We have too many one dimensional players.

Farah overplaying his hand, let brooks run the show

Brooks cant even hold onto the ball…..guess he can be a backseat driver

He did win us the game when he took over at start of second half

I thought Farah re-ignited us with his grubber - and when he went off our defence weakened. His lack of speed strongly points to retirement but he still gets the job done one way or another.

His dummy half kick for lawrence try was very smart as tom had chased brooks on the other side of the field.

Well Lawrence was in the vicinity.but yes he was isolated ….. but gee he was up against a halfback.
He just needs to bulk up, maintain speed and agility and work on his tackle technique ...... similar to what Brooks has achieved with (mostly) positive results this year.

Matulino was at marker, he just stood there like a statue that's why Liddle ended up isolated by a pensioner who probably wouldn't get a run in the pommy league.

We rally lack power in a the middle Taupau and Fonua Blake had 17 tackle busts between them. We lack athletes which, is the problem and too many limited unathletic one dimensional players with limited impact. You can only graft and scramble for so long it has worn us down.

We can’t field Eiso, ET, Packer, Mats, Rochow etc next year. We need 1-2 sledgehammers Taupau, Fonua Blake, Pangai Jr etc.

Mats and Packer will be strong leaders and key players but they need help from younger powerhouses.

At the end of the day a win over Manly no matter by how many is always a good feeling 😎

I'd personally like to see a back up hooker to Liddle and Farah to retire.

Too slow and 80% of his passes go to Benji instead of Brooks even though he calls for the ball.

Manly had the momentum when he came on with 15 min. to go - same as last week, saints had the momentum when he came on with 10 min. to go.

You people obviously expect a miracle - maybe water into wine, just as much chance when we are going backwards.

That win sure did feel like a loss

Benji been playing injured for some time, he was held together with gaffa tape last night. Ribs, thigh and something else as well I think.

We seem to clock off at points still though and that first half was fairly average, hard to believe how the players are not more focused.

Liddle needs to come on earlier, not when the opposition has already started rolling over us.

We need a couple more forwards with more punch, Packer was hitting hard at least defensively in the 2nd half, but we need someone else like Twal and Sue who were running with some venom.

More speed for next year needed, Robbie's break in the first half was in slow motion and he didn't have much support.

Anyone else think liddle on the last 20 is useless?

Not me.

Nor me.

deservers more time, perhaps whole 2nd half

I love his good work but am afraid he will leak too many easy tries. At least M Moses was fooled when he looked like an idiot and let tries get scored near him unimpeded. I don't know the game sufficiently to know if LIddle had an excuse for being on light duties and let that try in - the guy next to him was certainly awake. We heard how Jacob has created records with 70 tackles a game??? I got concussion getting run over stopping tries by big guys and that was for no pay. give Jacob a pair of sunglasses and a banana chair on the sideline.
