He has more to his game than just his running game but that is definitely the strength of his game. He put in some really good kicks today.

Some really good kicks? Brooks is the bloke who was playing 7 for us today.

He put in some great kicks. There was the bomb that Tedesco chased and Edwards knocked on and there were plenty close to as good as that.

Compare him to Cleary today who is highly rated. He was just as good around the park if not better. Cleary's goal kicking was better but that was it.

Please post here the exact time on the clock where Brooks put in a good kick.
Because I made a point to comment on every kick Brooks put in today on this live thread, and I don't recall any that I'd consider good. I seriously doubt if some people actually watch the game before commenting on here fair dinkim.

At 6:20 pm he kicked the soap into Twal's falafel's.

The team was determined today I'll give them that . But when your halfback is garbage and your hooker isn't much better add to that your marquee fullback runs like a crab and your supposed best forward backs into the line like a beaten up delivery truck and fails to deliver anything, plus having 61 missed tackles , the result was inevitable.
This teams puss !

Brooks is not a halfback. He is a running 5/8\. Its been apparent for many years.

Cleary is far less experienced yet is cool under pressure and assesses the situation far better. He is also constantly working the opposition over following and implementing the game plan to a tee. He gains smart field possesion and doesnt need a highlights reel for people to see his contributions and class….and his side scored double the points his rival's did, not including a few other disallowed tries.

I was at the game on the 10 meter line down the northern end Brook's kicks were pathetic .
The Penrith fullback had a month of Sunday's to catch everything Brooks put up .

Apart from the one he dropped and the one he let bounce..

Cool under pressure like his pushed pass that went to ground when he made a half bust ? Is that what you are talking about ?

That was one of his first touches. From then on he delivered a lesson without being a game breaker. He did his job and was reliable. Something Brooks rarely ever achieves.

Honestly I don't think Cleary outplayed Brooks at all, also made his fair share of errors and poor 5th tackle options, failed to really burn us with all the possession Penrith had on our line.

For all the running Penrith had, they really should not have been only 2 points ahead for 30 mins of the game.

Different for me was just crucial mistakes at key moments. Penrith made most of their mistakes down our end, including penalties, we made a large number of mistakes mid-field. We missed some key tackles that lead directly to tries.

We certainly do not build pressure or work the ball well on our 5th tackle options, but also we generally fail to get the ball down that end consistently enough to have multiple runs at it. Brooks was putting bombs up because we were having 5th tackle 30-40 metres out.

However the set where Dylan Edwards dropped the kick, that was awful, players going every which way and the wrong guys getting the ball on the wrong tackles. Brooks needed to step in there and take control, he can't continue to sit back.

Marshall -King

Serious???? Maybe Jeff Robson gets a listing as well, or Farah could come back as the half. What about Jackson Hastings? I am not sure if there are more names before I hit the bottom of the barrell.

Brooks cops it way too harshly and Cleary gets way too much wraps. Was Cleary really a lot better than Brooks. I don't think so.

comparison of forwards contribution

MINS AR ARM T MT MINS AR ARM T MT
Woods 56 14 126 35 2 Tamou 51 9 80 25 2
"Grant 38 8 64 28 1 Browne 31 6 54 17 5
94 22 190 63 3 82 15 134 42 7

Our starting props won convincingly, they played 12 more minutes, but missed only 3 tackles, and
run 56 m more. :master:

Lawrence 80 10 80 26 2 Harawira-Naera 80 14 130 25 5
Taylor 59 10 75 32 5 Yeo 80 13 132 26 2
139 20 155 58 7 160 27 262 51 7

Our 2nd rowers again lost the battle for us, they played 21 minutes less, but were significantly
outplayed in attack by 107 m run meters :deadhorse:

Eisenhuth 63 11 101 42 5 Leota 26 3 33 16 2

Eisenhuth was significantly better than his opponent in attack, :master: but missed too many tackles.

Bench contribution was about equal.
Twal 42 13 116 32 1 Campbell-Gillard 49 9 120 29 2
Sue 24 6 51 14 1 Katoa 12 4 31 5
Chee-Kam 38 6 83 20 2 Cartwright 40 7 58 16 2
Littlejohn Fisher-Harris 31 6 58 15 2
104 25 250 66 4 132 26 267 65 6

Why we picked up Littlejohn again ??? :crazy

Our players missed far too many tackles - 60 is ridiculous.

You can't win games doing that. Completed sets were down as well.
