He doesn't make the number of tackles to justify his spot. He made about 356 tackles when guys are making over 600 in our team.
High error, high penalities. The only things that justify him in our team are:
offloads - 23 (the most)
80 minute player.

Your comment on his defensive output is misleading, he only played 12 games!!!
Look at his average...30.42/game. Only Api and Papa worked harder.

Keep Terrell May at prop. He is changing teams and best we see the same performance we see from him at Easts.
I really think the only other second row option is Seyfarth. Jack Bird is too puny to be there.
You could see Jack at Lock and he would be a good player to combine with our spine. Api is going to need time away from Hooker and I could see stops with Api in lock and TDS/L Fainu stepping in at 9. This would then move Bird to the Bench utility role, which he would be good for.

You also make a case for offloads too. As Bateman got 23 offloads in 12 games. His errors are also leading the Tigers, with only 12 games. ... (bar May, who did not play with us but got a lot more offloads).
I haven't really seen him do anything for our team though. Canberra, Bateman was a key player. A Central Cog driving them to the finals. ... He really seems to be at the Braith Anasta stage of his career. Batey prove me WRONG!

I agree .....but we still have to find a better second rower in the market as he is unfortunately still our 2nd best in the back row 😢

I'll admit it's probably hard for for me to. Be a. But of a. Fair. Judge when it comes to him as he's rubbed me up the wrong way almost from the start.
I got the impression he'd hoiked the white flag at times... There was no team player about him at all and my biggest hate - doing stupid shit while in possesion and losing the plot in general

I do too but as it's looking like he's off to souths and we will somehow use his coin to try keep LG... we may have to look. Within to replace him.
I'd say external recruitment is done and Wether we have a spot remaining or not. I dunno... But it seems the wise clubs are keeping their powder dry and leaving a vacancy 'Justin case'

Not a lot AM... he appears to have some talent and as you say he's big and strong... He also has the.benefit of.basically having a year of Reggie's under his belt.

He’s a shorter nuggety version of Alex Twal.
Plays with plenty of commitment, high work rate, but lacks explosiveness or impact.
The type of player that’s needed in a team, but you cannot have too many of them in the one team.
Personally I think the stupid stuff whilst in possession is drastically overstated. I agree it does happen (one incident with Savage stands out) but not to the degree you read of here. I can't think of a single penalty conceded whilst in possession despite that being one of his main criticisms on here (happy for anyone to point out an incident I missed). In fact his discipline all together is not as bad in my opinion as others. In the 4 games between his return from injury and returning to England nrl.com have him conceding 0 penalties and no sin bins or suspensions for all of 2024.
The occasional handling error is a bit of an issue for me as they're a little above what would be statistically acceptable but he is a forward that tries to create rather than simply tuck it under the arm.
As for pure involvement (tackles and runs) I think he was one of the few that never wavered, even towards the end.

Bennett still thinks he can do something with Bateman..............his defensive reads on the edges are still top notch and our centres are still the clubs weakest position.
Benji doesn't have the technical skills as coach at this level yet but is getting superior buy in............and fancies himself as a man manager aka Bennett.
Well, if I were Benji I'd be looking to out compete Bennett and get Bateman firing.

Sione looks good, love how he gets himself into the right positions defensively.......Just a tad slow laterally.
Pole looks good.......got the skills and the Athleticism, the little jink, good hands.......just needs to improve his defensive reads.
Can Johansen be carried on the bench with Hunt........reckon his offloading ability would be hard to handle. We would need May and Bateman to play 80 for this imo.

Agreed.
Our backs have a massive upgrade with Turuva. Our spine likewise upgraded with Luai. Props are kinda static with May...
Second row is our biggest weakness. Samuela F is decent but were not denting the line enough. Plus we really don't have any options there other then Samuela and Bateman.

He has played 25 minutes of NRL ....long way to go AM .....I hope all the junior players step up big time
