Quoting Tom Shines who is quoting Shane Richardson:
I went back and watched again to see exactly what he said ..

“The playing squad is now locked in virtually for the next two years.

We won’t be signing any …Don’t get excited fans waiting for the end of next year and we gunna sign…

We are locked in because we think the players we got can take us to the top of the NRL… if we’re wrong then Benji and I will be signing off into the sunset…”

Looking at our squad:
Fullback - Bula: Fair enough.
Wings - Turuva/Skelton IMHO, solid and I know people disagree.
Centers - Toa/Taylan May for 6 months till he does something stupid.
Halves - Luai/Fainu + AD....
Hooker - Api K Solid
2nd row - KPP plus Samuela Fainu.
Forwards - T May, Pole, Twal.

Bench: Seyfarth, Hunt, Naden?, remaining Fainu.

Are we locked in? What position do we need someone the most?

Well we just elevated a guy this week to take over from Richo so now we are after a coach cause we ain’t winning the comp or going to the top with the current squad , Se ya guys your both wrong

Rather than positions, we probably need to recruit certain attributes.

Priorities would be:
1. Kick chase
2. Line speed
3. Leadership when it comes to fitness and pushing your fellow teammates

May be that covers lock/backrow

Good luck recruiting two top line props and risk wrecking a current top line prop by turning him into a lock
Why would you risk it ??
You wouldn't be recruiting a 2 top line props. Thats the point. With the limited cap left You would be recruiting 1 top prop, pushing May to fill 13 and shifting Twal back to the prop rotation.

If May is the prop, he needs to be playing 60 minutes to maximise his impact. He isnt Payne Hass. If Benji wants to play him 80 he should shift him to lock and play him like Yeo.

Anyway don't have to agree but thats just how I see it.

That prop rotation would be lacking a genuine starter. We only have one starting prop now and you want to move him.

I went hooker, both because Api only regularly brings quality for 50 to 60 minutes maximum and Hope is way off being a consistent NRL level player. Our season is funked if Koroisau goes down for any length of of time.

This is top 4 stuff... lazy players like toa won't cut it.

The way Benji played May this year is not sustainable. Mark my words he will break down or burn out (like he did at the back half of the season). If the solution is to recruit a top-line prop to help the rotation and reduce May's minutes then fine, but you aren't then also squeezing in a first grade lock into the cap. That is fantasy.

Think Terrell can be that lock if we can find a topline prop to replace him
I think Terrell 'can' be lock.
But I don't know that we want him to be lock.

KPP is best at 2RF.
Samuela is probably better as a 2RF, yet I could definately see advantages to Samuela being a lock. Because his brothers will be playing halfback and prop.

Pole, Twal, etc kinda fill the prop numbers. but with injuries and the workloads you may just see people falling. I really feel that with KPP were getting close to Minimum number of Forwards when we should have a spare Prop/2RF ready because they work themselves hard.

Wow back a Tmay as lock. ... I still think he is better as a dedicated prop, but we really have no one else.

I can’t be wrong … I just quoted exactly what Richo said …

Let’s hope he is playing 4D chess like Gould often does … because I agree they aren’t winning a competition with the current line up

I’ve voted lock but I do think we need an enforcer at either prop or lock to elevate our game.

There’s not much of these on the market.

I’m really interested in seeing how Ethan Roberts develops. I started keeping an eye on him and asking some mates about him.

Consensus is he’s a talented young edge forward that will eventually wind up in the middle so he might be the lock we’re after.

I went prop. We need more grunt up front.

Be nice to get a strategic attack coach. A bit of structure and ingenuity in attacking areas would
make a world of difference make a world of difference. Periods this year were embarrassing.
