Souths look like real contenders for the first time in years. They have had a good squad for a few years now and have been promising, but they have been too inconsistent and unmotivated in previous seasons.

This year, however, they look like premiership contenders. The difference? A coach with new ideas, who has been able to get the best out of erratic players like Sutton, Taylor and Merritt and the departure of the over hyped Sandow making way for the young Reynolds, who has been a revelation at half. It's amazing what a difference just a couple of changes can make to a team - food for thought.

Yeah me either, AHX. Be nice for a change, although I don't really like the Bulldogs lol. Be better than the usual Melb, Brisbane, St Geo, Manly contenders though.

Some hard running back rowers wouldn't be bad either. Nor would a centre who can penetrate. Or having your best 5/8 run the ball.

I agree. We need some impact. Fulton is pretty good as well but we simply need greater impact.

Benji needs to get his game together and do it quickly.

Yep, don't underestimate what a good half back can do for a team.

We need one DESPERATELY

Do you think Fulton's could be ok at 1/2 or 5/8?

Souths v Dogs gf would be entertaining on and off the field, the build up would be huge. The Souths coach seems good, their players now know what they're doing, before when they made mistakes the team would fall to pieces but now their team turns up and recovers the situations - where as we just capitulate further as we have done for our entire history under Sheens.

I said it in another thread, but the current top two teams both missed the finals last year. Both now have new coaches, and relatively similar squads, or have promoted from within (Adam Reynolds, Josh Reynolds, Kasiano etc). Coincidence? I think not.
