@tits magee said:**It's kind of a joke** … There's so many threads about the magpie being to small , too much gold etc ... But the way I see it is the only word missing from the merge is balmain .... Not that I care

- tiger emblem retained along with long established tigers branding/legacy
- modernised tigers emblem that balmain would have done since 99
- tiger mascot still walking up and down sideline just like balmain tigers - magpie GONE
- black & gold only merchandise (shirts, jackets, scarves, beanies, wristbands, baby gear, kids gear, dreadlock wigs etc) just like balmain tigers
- Leichahardt oval branded as 'spiritual home of the tigers' - just like balmain tigers
- Ellery Hanley inducted into balmain hall of fame at a WT function despite also playing for western suburbs
- balmain nominated as sole feeder side to WT, leading to demise of wests magpies in nsw cup most notably in 2012
- media personalities like blocker roach who only acknowledge history of balmain (89 gf, tigers this , tigers that) on radio and tv
- wests name removed from WT membership logo on cards and letterheads
- magpie on sleeve reduced in size since year 2000 then dropped to cuff where players taper over arms.
- no reference in WT to 'western suburbs' or 'magpies' in any official manner
- tiger town - is it rozelle or campbelltown?
- No significant difference between balmain merchandising of the past to WT of now (i.e tigers scarf of balmain identical to tigers scarf of WT) yet a magpies scarf does not associate with WT despite being the other 50% of the JV
- inner west (balmain district) and inner city centric operations of WT. not embracing the south west except for 4 often poorly scheduled campbelltown games
- ex balmain player as CEO
- majority of media (tv,radio, print, online) refer to WT as just 'tigers' = taking away wests identity.
- majority of non WT fans perceive WT as an extension of Balmain with little recognition to wests
- WT fans displaying 'black & gold' army placards in the crowd/on tv - identical to the black & gold army of Balmain Tigers
- WT jersey designs bare little resemblance to any wests inspired designs (look at current series)
- a lot of ignorant WT fans in outrage when a wests magpies WT heritage jersey is revealed with no orange in it - yet balmain bumble jersey is worn by WT and no body including commentators make zero mention of it (pointing out that no one really distinguishes the two tigers brands - WT & Balmain)
I could go on for hours....
Despite the tongue in cheek intention of this particular thread..ask yourself how you would feel if the tables were turned around.

@wtfl1981 said:Interesting posts but let me make things clear..
I accept that Wests Tigers is who we are and the best name and fit for the JV - not arguing that. I appreciate what WT does for heritage rounds etc
My point is that Balmain Tigers have faired much better in terms of legacy, branding, tradition etc…
The Balmain Tigers emblem would have been modernised just like all other NRL clubs who moved on from their old skool logos, same goes for jersey designs...
Benjirific - you have actually backed up my points by your response.
Most non WT fans see WT as an (visual and geographical) extension of Balmain with little recognition of the original Western Suburbs Magpies
No matter which way you cut it, Tigers of old are not that separate from the Tigers of old. No one cares to distinguish the brands much at all.... Media included. Anyone notice that channel 9 used the WT logo when For the BRET team playing line up on GF day? So much for brand separation!

@tits magee said:The hole point of this thread was to acknowledge the fact that we are wests tigers now , regardless of who u supported previously . I was I massive balmain fan but I know longer cheer them on . I cheer on the wests tigers and I appreciate that we're a totally new team . Sorry if it went to far . Imagine In 10 - 20 years from now majority, our fans would probably never heard of balmain or magpies … Hmmmm
