@Yossarian said:Gee i don't know. At their best Lote is a much better player than Beau Ryan but on 2011-2012 and moving forward Ryan seems a much wiser use of money. I can only think that there is some bigger plan to get these NYC guys coming up through first grade so by 2014 they are starters.

It's possible that no other club is prepared to offer him a 2 year deal either.

- How could they negotiated 3yr contract with Ryan and than suddenly decide that he is not needed?
- How could they offered CW multi year contract and now decide to break it"?
- Similar situation was the last year with Gibbs, again why?
- Why was Moltzen told to shop around and than suddenly offered 3yr extension?
To me this indicates that there is no strategic thinking behind and they play by ear :frowning:
How come we have salary cap problems, year after year, accounting is not brain surgery

My understanding on your first point is that we offered Ryan a 3 year deal and the Sharks offered more money. That is a no brainer for Ryan. Hardly the WT's fault.
Second point: Heino was told that at the end of his contract (end of 2013) he would not be offered any extension. Blind Freddy could see that his form did not warrant any more extension. I am of the opinion, that the WT's told him that if he could get a longer contract at another club, they would release him from his 2012 contract. That, in my opinion, is called looking after a long serving player.

Third point: Gibbs form did not warrant his retention. He has played some good footy at the Sharks, but most players do when they change clubs. Gibbs was a good defender in the middle of the paddock, but he was never going to win you a premiership. He has not scored a try since 2005 for God's sake.

Point four: I have no idea about that one. Whoever was responsible for resigning Moltzen should be shown the door immediately.
As far as the salary cap is concerned, I agree that there needs to be changes to that department, and quickly.
