Well at least this is a piece of the puzzle which is finally locked in. Now we can start putting in whatever pieces are left and find out what the whole picture looks like.

Not convinced Molzten is a long term HB. He played well in that position but didnt do much in terms of organising. He also played well at fullback - good under the high ball, courageous with his body. Anybody who suggests he is a bad fullback give yourself an uppercut.

Is he a long term FB? im not convinced of that either but he is nowhere as bad as some suggest and nor is Gallant as good as some suggest. In my view Moltzen is neither a genuine HB nor a genuine FB but that doesnt mean he could not develop into a very good player in either position. Personally I thik FB is more likely as it is harder to develop the requisite skills of a HB.

Moltzen played his junior football in the halves (5/8th)….he has the skills.....Sheens desire to replace Hodgo with a ballplayer saw him try and Manufacter both Moltzen and Lazarus(another half).,,,into fullbacks....Moltzen as you point out played well at fullback..He is 21......he will learn to dominate Marshall and Farah more the more time he spends at 7........

Hopefully IF.......Lortay comes on baord it will allow Moltzen to go back into the halves........

this is good news…

now that he has signed with the UK mob he is allowed to sign with us🙂

Troy

This is not good news. At Lotes age, the wear and tear of this stint won't leave much petrol in the tank for 26 rounds of the NRL.

Wear and tear? On the wing in Rugby?

As long as he gets his thermals sorted to stop catching a cold he will be fine

At Lote's age? The way people talk on this forum you'd have thought we were trying to sign a 40 year old Brett Favre. He's only 29\. Sailor dominated at 34 this year and he spent 2 years out of professional sport. It's not like Tuqiri's been injured and broken down for the last 5 years…

The Guinness premiership final is on Sat 29th May.

I hope he doesn't play a full season there and comes to us in March but I am sure they wouldn't sign him for only five months?

Why is everyone happy for Lote to play fullback,he has never played fullback, and hasn't played league in 7 years,Moltzen at 1 and Taumata at 7 would be much better,Tuquiri is a winger.

In my book Moltzen is a genuine 5/8 and a bloody good one. I feel he could play state of origin if he was second fiddle to a dominant half.

As it is, I think he can be a very good half when he's got a dominant Benji inside him.

I agree. But Moltzen has handled the switch from 5/8, to fullback, to halfback, with a maturity well beyond his years.

He has a bright future as a halfback - I would also like to throw a hat in the ring for Tim Moltzen as a future NSW rep player.

Imagine Tim Moltzen and Daniel Mortimer for NSW.. Might be a few years away, but definitely on the cards.

i would like to see lote at centre in attack.
i think it will help whoever we play at 7 on the right side.
lote will draw defenders and i think the running ability of our potential 7's could exploit some holes.
more balance to our backline with lote on the right side.

I think manufacturing Moltzen to play fullback had more to do with the fact that we have one of the best number 6's in the game. I hope he proves me wrong but I am just not convinced that Moltzen is a long term 7\. He doesnt have a natural passing game on both sides of his body (he remins me of Dykes in is awkwardness). Have to wait and see. Will be handy player.

Mortimer and Moltzen is hardly an amazing halvs combo. I think Mortimer is highly overrated.

Well…..400k for a winger even if we are paying a tad over half is ummmm....At least put him in the centres as some have suggested..Mitch Brown at fullback then.......

Taumata another 5/8th has yet to prove anything........Moltzen has a combination with Marshall already that just needs to be fostered...

southerntiger....Benji cant really pass left to right either.....unless you count over the touchline into row 3 or 10 feet behind his winger....All his miricle stuff comes down the left hand side.......Moltzen natural game is down thre right....they compliment one another.....

all my mail was pointing to an early to mid week announcement, then i got word there was a slight problem with one part of the 3rd party agreement that should of been resolved by friday.

but this news today came from no where, like ive stated previously, no where along my grape vine did i hear that UK rugby was an option let alone him being days away from signing with a team over there, so i dont know how much truth there is to this story, because one of my sources is very high in the WT organisation and the other is in the sydney media.

**and i will reveal both names of my sources if tuquiri does sign over there.** I still have it on good authority that he will be playing for us next year but this UK union thing is disturbing

I can't wait for this!! :sunglasses:

this is an epic saga to say the least, but all the reports cant be wrong can they? personally i think lote should play in the centres or fullback, he needs to get as much ball as possible.

next season is shaping up to be an exciting one

Looks like Lote's gonna have his cake and eat it, too. But what's to stop him from having one cake (playing in England), and then deciding to have another (staying in England)? His word? A handshake?

Hmm.

Geo I am aware Benji's weaknesses at passing left to right. I believe I started a thread on this point mid-season.

I prefer a HB that can pass strongly and quickly both ways. Moltzen cant do that.
