Lote Tuqiri thread

these 2 situations are nothing alike when you get down to it. tuquiri isnt signed or wasnt previously signed to a NRL contract the previous year, he is currently a free agent who has played union for the last 7 years and once he has signed a deal with UK union, west tigers are then free to announce tuquiri as a signing but they cant do it before he has signed a deal to union.
\
\
its like us announcing in 2010 james o'connor will be playing for us in 2011, there is nothing wrong with that and nothing legally the NRL can do to stop it.
\
\
expect the tuquiri announcement to come within 2 weeks of his union deal to be confirmed, and the tigers will be able to market him as per normal.

Lote Tuqiri signs with Leicester:

http://www.leicestertigers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=28064

Met Lote today he got his visa yesterday morning and was on the plane with his family yesterday afternoon - landed this morning and was at the Fortress this afternoon.
>
Welcomed him here and he said he couldn't wait to play for us - he also said that he had not signed for any other club but Leicester Tigers as in the Ozzy newspapers.
>
SO A BIG WELCOME TO HIM AND HIS FAMILY - wrap up warm me ducks.

Apparently its a short term contract, then ****SHOCK SHOCK***** he will sign with Wests Tigers for 2010

i'm happy

I think Tauber's comments re Lote's contract with Leicester means he's signed with Wests Tigers … Tuqiri has every right to sign with a UK club, he has no NRL contract whereas Benji does ... thoughts?

"Sources say that Tuqiri will likely play at fullback at the Wests Tigers, allowing Tim Moltzen to move to halfback."

Oh so now Moltzen is going to be the halfback again?
According to Royce, Lui is the not going to see much of the lower grades ever again..
According to Sheens, Moltzen is a better fullback than halfback…
Oh but now Tuqiri is a better option at fullback than Moltzen, although its out of position for Lote and Moltzen has had more games/experience in that position...
So really, last year Sheens DID weaken one position to plug a hole.
Why was Moltzen ever removed from halfback??
Why wasn't Moltzen left at 7 and Hanbury put in the 1 after Mighty Mouse broke his leg?

Pfffftttttt....what would i know..

HaHa Ha..you believe anything written in the papers …..when it suits.......Sheens has stated Tuqiri will probably start on the wing with a view of moving to fullback........Tuiaki is at long odds to start for a while into the season......who's to say it wont be .......1\. Moltzen 5\. Tuqiri from the start........

Why did Moltzen go back to 1......circumstance.......Maybe he thought Lui was up to.....and a team with Farah, Marshall and Moltzen still there would be good enough...

we lost against Parra after losing two wingers in the one game...Moltzen in 7 would not of made the difference....against the Coast we where without both of them and a Prop as well as losing Skando during the game we were right in it until Robbie's brain explosion...Maybe he should have went straight back to Morris given the Dogs game..Moltzen in 1 IS better than Hanbury....

but of course...what would I know......

If this is true than it is the height of naievity and is a sure sign that Sheens is not up to the gig anymore...

Moltzen is a terrible fullback, but is a very capable half IMO of course...

Can u please have a post without verbally bashing Sheens??

Moltzen will have to be in the side the kid can play n whether its at 1/2 or fullback doesnt bother me

Leicester coach RICHARD COCKERILL says he's made no contact with former Wallaby winger LOTE TUQIRI.

Reports had suggested TUQIRI was on the verge of securing a deal with the English rugby champions, but COCKERILL has denied any deal is on the table.
aap

tuquiri only wants a short term deal a 12-14 game deal. im unsure whether he can secure that deal as they may want him for longer which will conflict with plans to be back with the wests tigers by mid february.

well this is becoming a bit of a laughing stock isnt it.

not really. people need to make a living.

yes poor tuquiri cant live on 400k a year, needs to go scounge up an extra 350k just to get by. please.

anyway word is he wants to be back by the time school starts here next year for his kid. so he should be back no later then mid feburary, that is if infact he does get his deal.

maybe he has made some investments while on his million dollar a yr contract with rugby that will hurt, now that the money isnt coming in.

 Come on people, put it together - the Club issues statement to shut people up and tempararily end specualtion so that we could all focus on the Aussie game and our star player making his debut.
Coach Sheens locked this deal in at the end of July - then concentrates on National Team duties. We all know that with him being under fire so much he was NEVER,EVER going to allow for this announcement to be made while he was out of the country and not in all the photos/press etc. That's not a go at him,it's bloody shrewd business sense on his part and the Club's.Expect nothing until after the Aussies get back. If Lote goes o/s it will be for a minor guest spot and then he will be back, but you can't blame the guy for trying to earn a bit of cash on the side!
Meanwhile, season 2010 starts this week back at Camp Concord,so we won't have long to wait until the pre season gets under way 100% :righton:

I've got absolutely no problem with Lote doing this as long as it doesn't interfere with his Wests Tigers contract

The same can be said for players who make money any other way, be it through property investments, tv hosting (benji), journalism (barry hall, webke, cam smith),sporting clinics (lawrence) or gaming "entertainment" machines (fulton, gibbs)

anyone who argues against lote having the right to take up a short term sting with Rugby before linking with us is also arguing against every other player who makes a quid on the side.
And as we all know, that is a flawed argument.

Bring on Lote in 2010!

Actually Kul, isn't it interesting that some people and the press would argue that the likes of Benji ,Gibbs,Fulton and Milky Bar Kid are all developing themselves and planning for their respective lives after football. And that's cool and all respect to them. Many people see Lote as greedy and a show pony, but maybe he is just a realist and see's now is the time for him to make his cash and get himself set up,as footy may be the only thing he feels he is skilled at/confident in. He has come from a time when pro sports people just did their thing direct from High School and didn't have people around them to consider his life after footy. Get what you can now V's start an apprenticeship at 35…I know what I'd choose Lote!

exactly

somehow i can't see him pairing up with Wendell

Agreed …....All well and good......Glad Lote gets his final payday. Why wouldn't he......

Cant see Fulton or Gibbs doing an ACL stuffing Buzz Lightyear toys in a Machine....or Benji doing his shoulder holding a microphone....then again it's yawnion on the wing in the UK.....keeps him fit.........

Nice to have him back a few weeks before the season starts.......

Terrible fullback? You have got to be kidding.

He's a very capable fullback I'd say.
