This thread is getting better…...

Spartan do you know what day next week or are you practicing what you preach......

After being inside the WT dressing room for the first 8 years of their existence and including a few years with Tim Sheens, I can tell you now that only a very select few know what is ACTUALLY and FACTUALLY going on with regards to recruitment and decisions being made. Quite often even the senior staff (physios, strength & conditioning coaches) would not know what was going on. We (the staff) could all speculate and often be correct but it was speculation. Cards are kept very close to their chest.

I am not saying sponsors, office staff etc do not know what they are talking about, they very well may, however in my experience all of that talk is speculation and Sheens and his close few, know the facts.

I knew it…..Sheens is the Wests Tigers........

Sheens want's Lortay.....it's done.......

The worst thing about not making the top 8 is that it is even a longer off-season waiting for the boys to run back out onto the pitch but with this thread the time has flown by. It is almost like we have our very own daytime (and night time) soapy, maybe we should re-name the thread.."Days of our Lote", or maybe "The Lote and the Restless"…Bring on the season I can't wait for some Footy...go the Tigers!!

This is a great post -
thanks for the info -
if tiges05 really was there for 8 years i consider this to be the most informative of all things said.

There's never been a question about whether there's a deal with Lote. Every man and his dog knows that there IS some sort of verbal agreement that was done before he flew off.

The question is whether Lote wants to stick to it. Thus the delays.

If people don't want to believe that, that's fine.

The club has been trying to get it announced now for weeks. I know our blokes want it done. What about the other side?

Sheens was on FOX saying it should have been announced before our fox summerime gig weeks back. Why the delays? Common sense should be used at this point fellas.

Sheens said HOPE cnx_

The only one's blowing it all out of proportion is us…...

It was a very long and complicated process obviously....Lote sacking....Lote's third party arrangenents..Gallop's stance on guest stints in other codes and duel registration....blah blah blah......

The Club has said very little about Lote.....

FWIW....I reckon Lote put pen to paper today and Monday will be Lote Day...

Then the fun will begin.....Plenty of time to promote Lote to increase membership and start getting the Marquee value out of him......Then when he turns up so will the bums on seats and the last 6 months will be forgotten........

Booya!!!

WESTS TIGERS SIGN LOTE TUQIRI FOR THREE YEARS
Thursday, 4 February 2010

Wests Tigers has secured the services of dual international Lote Tuqiri for the next three seasons.

In one of the biggest signings in its 11-year-history, Wests Tigers CEO Stephen Humphreys secured Tuqiri’s signature in Leicester this week.

The three-year deal signals a full-time return to the NRL for Tuqiri.

Tuqiri joins internationals Robbie Farah, Benji Marshall, Taniela Tuiaki and Gareth Ellis at Wests Tigers under Australian coach Tim Sheens.

Mr Humphreys said securing Tuqiri was a great endorsement for Wests Tigers and the club’s prospects for the future.

“We made it clear early on that should Lote be interested in returning to rugby league, then Wests Tigers were keen to accommodate him,’’ Humphreys said.

“This club is about developing our local juniors to first grade but it is also good to attract high quality talent.

“Lote attracted significant interest from European rugby clubs who have greater financial resources than we do.

Tuqiri said he was glad to have his future settled and was looking forward to joining Wests Tigers.

“There was plenty of speculation about my next career move. I was really appreciative of the interest I received from a number of clubs which made my decision that much harder,’’ Tuqiri said.

“I really appreciate the fact Stephen came to Leicester to meet with my family. We had a really good talk about a range of things which greatly assisted us in making the decision we have now made.

"I enjoyed my time in rugby union immensely and have been very fortunate to have made many great friends through my time in the code. The Leicester Tigers have been terrific to me and my family and we will never forget the warm hospitality they and their supporters have shown us.

“I’m really excited to return to the NRL. There is no question it is one of the toughest sporting competitions in the world and I am confident Wests Tigers will enjoy great success in the coming years.

“The opportunity to play under the most experienced coach in the game in Tim Sheens was a major factor in my decision. Wests Tigers is a club with a great culture and a terrific roster of players. I am thrilled to be joining them.”

Wests Tigers Coach Tim Sheens was excited to have secured a quality player like Tuqiri.

“Lote’s experience and ability will bring an X-factor to Wests Tigers,’’ Sheens said.

“He has achieved more than most footballers and to have someone of his calibre in our team is a great addition to an already impressive squad of talented players.

“I know one of the main driving reasons behind Lote’s decision is that he is very keen to break back into representative footy, something other players coming back from rugby union have been unable to do of late.”

Tuqiri will complete his commitments with Leicester by the end of March before returning to Australia to join Wests Tigers.
