None of us can determine his market value. If some club is stupid enough to pay him 700k then that’s his market value whether we agree or not. The Pom said he was looking at 575k which is a touch overs for him imo. I’d personally value him between 500 and 550, but it isn’t the worst contract should he extend.

600 and done!
Far out easts signed MOMO for 300k.

So Luc is after a contract upgrade but if signed will stay with us long term.

While his brother never found form here, Luc has been awesome and IMHO someone we would want to keep around.
700k is big bikkies but fair market value. I see the big problem is motivation.

How do we keep this unit firing and pushing to the max with a 4 year contract? Yet maybe we say "stay" and the ethic is different. IMHO get his signature but just make sure there is a performance clause in the contract.

M**omo signed with Easts for 300k. 🙁** What an absolute joke. I would have signed him here for 450k and I don't think we should be signing centers.

Has Momo gone to the roosters? If ever there was a player that’s been hit in the arse by a rainbow it’s him.

600k

Momo 300k per season. I hear its a 3 year deal.
Im calling it 300k but 3 years for 900k. IMHO thats a crazy rate.

LL, 600k done. But we need to get his and our defense up. 100% i want a performance clause in there.

400k for luc is a good price

Also how heavy he looks when little blokes run past him.

He looks as agile as a Clydesdale in defence,to say his defence needs work is an understatement.

Dolphins are here now, there going to make harder for us to buy quality First graders, which Luciano is, we have the advantage in that we have him. To be honest Defence should be the easy part of this game, so its up to our coaches to improve his defence, he creates momentum and he has silky ball skills. With more teams in the comp more pressure on the price of players. So many people on here want to get rid of our players , who are they going to replace them with, old blokes like Hodgo.

Talk is North Queensland are about to Offer Luciano Leulia a contract to come up?

Thoughts?

Is this because Payten watches WT games.

This is a win for the tigers he was on massive money here and I would much rather spend the money on spine players. lowball api since he’s anti vax

The Wests Tigers will push North Queensland for a swap deal with one of their young gun backrowers if the Cowboys want Luciano Leilua released for 2022.

The Cowboys landed the shock signing of Leilua on a three-year deal worth around the $2.1 million on Wednesday but the Tigers will only release the backrower if both clubs can negotiate a fair and reasonable outcome.

North Queensland have two of the best emerging backrowers in the NRL in the form of Helium Luki and Jeremiah Nanai and the Tigers have already begun the process of trying to land one of

Luki, 20, stands 195cms and impressed in 11 NRL matches last year when Cowboys coach Todd Payten opted to blood the generation next of talent in North Queensland.

The Tigers aren’t the only rival club eyeing Luki after the rookie backrower impressed with his first foray into the NRL.

Aside from his obvious traits of size, speed and athleticism, Luki made good judges sit up with an effort play against the New Zealand Warriors last season when he chased down a runaway Reece Walsh in a

Nanai, 18, is considered one of the best emerging talents in the game after making his NRL debut last year.

The rookie was included in the Cowboys NRL squad at the end of 2020 aged 17 and was rewarded with four NRL matches last year.

This is where the Cowboys signing of Leilua gets curious.

After missing out on Viliame Kikau North Queensland still had money to invest in a backrower for 2023 but have they really nailed a brilliant deal in paying Leilua $700,000-a-season?

As talented as Leilua is the Tigers initially baulked at his $700,000 asking price leading the club to go and sign Parramatta’s Isaiah Papali’i for 2023 on a three-year deal.

The Tigers signed Dally M backrower of the year Papali’i for around $600,00-a-season.

Wests Tigers were only prepared to offer Leilua a contract worth around the $500,000-a-season mark.

The Cowboys went in hard and have got their man but the question still to be answered is have North Queensland struck a good deal

The Cowboys went down a similar path last year when they blew the Sharks out of the water by offering halfback Chad Townsend a three-year deal worth $2.1 million midway through last season.

They also signed another half in Tom Dearden - which led to Jake Clifford departing for Newcastle.

As much as Townsend, 30, and Leilua are solid NRL players there’s a view North Queensland have paid too much for both recruits.

It will now be up to coach Todd Payten to make it work.
