Lui's defence

Looked good again tonight IMO. Picked up Stapleton i think it was and dumped him to the ground when the Sharks were attacking the line at 1 point in the second half. Also was pretty noticeable a couple of other times in defence i thought
thoughts???

Agree, his defence has really improved over the last month to the point where he's hardly missing a tackle and his tackle on Stapleton was a beauty. He's also having to make twice as many tackles as Benji so it's a credit to him that he has managed to improve his defence. Should give plenty of Tigers fans confidence going into the finals.

his clearly working hard on it, good work, i like to see a player try and improve on his weaknesses.

His organisation and control has improved weak on weak in the back half of the year, he is coming along nicely.

Him and Moltzen coming good has made the diffrerenc

Lui, like 2010 is coming good around finals time…I hope he has a blinder next Friday!!!

hope he plays like he played like he did against the saints last year

I'd say it almost reflects his attitude in attack as well. He seems a lot more confident and looks more and more like he belongs at the top level. Hope for our sakes he keeps this up through the finals.

Great point. When he defends well he usually has more confidence when in attack. Very much like the entire Tigers team, when we are defending well our attack usually flows from that.

I thought Lui's speed at the line in attack was outstanding, once he received the ball he'd pressure defenders with his speed and setup the next play.

Hs defense has really lifted, could it be another Lawrence or Ayshford turnaround (both poor defenders when starting out, now very reliable and commendable)

Can't wait for next Friday night!

Yes I noted that. I thought that was his best effort all year. I was critical of Lui becuase he dersrved it, his defense was teriible but he has slowly been improving. Maybe he has turned it around at the right time of the season.

He's a confidence player, when he makes his tackles all of a sudden he is a lot more dangerous in attack.

This is why Sheens was right in not dropping him earlier in the season. Had he done that, Lui might have lost all confidence and we would have been in all sorts.

when you talk about players who struggled in defence early on, how can you leave Marshall out? he wasn't any better than Lui

I agree with everyone here. Lui seems to have put in a lot of effort and despite getting a lot of traffic directed at him is a much much better defender than earlier in the year.

I think he'll step up even further in the next few weeks

Again, credit where it is due, Lui has obviously been working on his defensive game and it shows, well done to his professionalism, it can't be easy being a half back with big forwards running at you all game- full marks for guts and determination to R. Lui

lui also looked very dangerous when attacking the line! seemed to always get an arm free in the tackle or bump the player making first contact off.

Good on Lui….. His extra efforts in training and on the field are paying off. He was looking sharp in attack last night as well I think he will win us the game on Friday!
