Luis V Miller

People have missed the point of this post - it was never about lets sack Lui and replace him next week with Miller - what i was trying to ascertain was who people thought was the better long term option at half.

Well we have to sign Miller first so he can become a long term option But he could just be that Lui defensively still has flaws he needs to work on Miller looks like he could have a better all round game But time will tell

When NSW wake up to themselves & select Farah. The team line up will look like this:

6\. Benji
7\. Miller
9\. Lui

I think Lui's pass to Ayshord was similar, and i think his passes to Ellis last year were just as visionary.

Now Miller may turn out to be better, who knows, but he isnt better than Lui now.

Im gonna go out on a huge limb here, and say in 2 years time, the best combo we may see is:
7.Lui
6.Marshall
9.Miller

Thats a huge call sirro - my bet is on \\

6\. Marshall
7\. Miller
9\. Farah
13\. Lui - with a bit of improvemenyt in his defense

Here is someone I agree with!!! Lui in my opinion is a lightweight lock with some ball skills, in the mould of Liam Fulton. If he spends all his time from now learning to defend and getting his shoulder into tackles then he will be a great asset. At the moment, I think he is nothing more than a rugby union style half who fights his way out of confrontation to stand one pass away from the action. I don't think he has the 'kahunas' to order the big guys around, or the vision to know where to go anyway.

I think a bit of improvement in his defence is the understatement of the year He needs a lot of improvement in his defence

Well Lui wants to shop himself around, so he might not even be a tiger for much longer…..
If he does work out a deal with the tigers, I'd like to see him develop as a lock as mentioned with Miller being promoted to halfback because he is an amazing talent.
He's only young so stick with him, sign him up long term and watch him become the #1 halfback of the game.

Some of the cross field kicks that Miller put in last night were unbelievable. The vision he displayed for Koriebetes try had to be seen on replay a few times to fully appreciate it. His reading of Sironens grubber for his own first try was something you can't coach.
I'm not fully against Lui at the moment as I've seen him do things similar to what Millers doing, but as the guy charged with leading this first grade squad around the field, he's just not doing it, infact he's putting the team under huge pressure. The only time he puts his hand up during the game is to acknowledge another mistake! :bash
PS. I realise he's not the only one, I'm just sticking to the thread!

Lol God there are some awful judges on this forum, but suggestions like removing Farah from the team are part of what makes the forum so hilarious!

Back to the OP's question, I don't think Miller will oust Lui any time soon, as it would take Miller at least 5 games to start showing his best in first grade (just like it did Lui), and the tigers can't afford to do that at the moment. Unless Lui gets injured, and then Miller should have his chance.

I think a full season in the 20s this year, and maybe next year with Lui testing the market, Miller might find himself as the first choice half.

They're both very good, and I'm glad we have an experienced coach like Sheens who will figure the right one moving forward.

I'm sorry, but the differenCe between 1st and NYC grades is an ocean. Lui is the man. Really tiresome these threads about people wanting to drop our (finally) established half for some kid in the lower grade. Took lui a whole season to find his feet and get settled in the side. You think miller is going to come into first grade and handle it better than Lui? The team needs to learn consistancy together, stick with the available team and persist. No team will play fluently by chopping and changing positions every week.

Adman if you were coach of the knights in the 90s johns would never have been picked as the first grade half back was Matt Rodwell.

Im a Lui fan but reckon long term Miller will be the champion.

The threads not about dropping players Adman, you've read too much into it. It's simply about what people are seeing between the two main no.7 options. Yes one's playing under 20's and the others playing NRL, there's a huge difference. Most people here probably watched Lui also playing under 20's a couple of years ago so comparisons are pretty valid I reckon.

Miller is the best half back in the club, no doubt, he needs to finish this season in 20s tho, then start drip feeding him into the NRL squad next year, sironen is going to be a great utility option or backrower down the track, hopefully we can keep both in the coming years

Miller also is playing behind a foward pack that

1 makes metres
2 Dominates in defence

Lui has struggled in the last couple of weeks as has the Entire Team yet against the Raiders he was outstanding…as for the future I'm glad both are at the club can never have too much depth...

Miller did have a blinder last night, and his tactical kicking game was as a good as we have at the club. However, he was playing against the Penrith under-20s. He looked nowhere near as good when he had his crack at a-grade. No doubt he could be a future star, but Sheens is taking the right approach to blooding him gradually.
Lui has been great this season, if you ask me, and leaving him out would cost us games we can ill afford at the mo.

I have watched a lot of the 20's over the last few years. For mine Lui was the best player in our 20's side that made the grand final a few years ago (big call considering the others in that team). Lui has great vision in my opinion and is a true talent.

From what I have seen of Miller this year he is also a very good talent and is a level above the 20's. For mine he has a better short kicking game than Lui and is stronger in defence. He is also a great goal kicker ( I would say the best in the club). His passing game and vision are ther but maybe just behind what I saw of Lui in the 20's.

They are a bit different but at this stage I would keep Lui but in a year or two it could be a very close call. For mine Miller is a natural 7 and Lui is a natural 6.

I just hope that Tigers keep both for at least the next 3 years as 1 of them will turn out to be amongst the best in the NRL (maybe even both of them).

I agree….the kid is a natural and oozes talent, he's a keeper for sure

I'm a big Lui fan but the knock on and then attempted tackle for the Panthers first try was well below sub-par.

Miller had a great game in the u/20's but I dont think I would be making the big change now, Lui for the most part has been good this year, Miller needs just a little more time imo before taking the reins fulltime.

An honorable mention too for Curtis Sironen, wow what a game!

I have said this since before the season started,Miller is in front of both Moltzen and Lui in every aspect of halfback play.

Miller looked no worse (in fact he looked better) against the titans than Lui looked last night. At least with Miller you know he will tackleabove his weight. I am happy for Rob to be there for now but I wouldnt be paying overs to keep him as he tests the market.
