Luke Brooks #167

The club obviously didn't think Jacob Liddle was the 9 to take the club forward... let him go.

Yet backed the 7 that's actually a 6 but lacks any kind of attribute to be successful in those positions... other than a running game.

I'm assuming you are backing down from your initial comment because that was so over the top it's not funny.

Your comment about Liddle makes more sense so let's try and talk to that. It's really simple as well. We had Jake Simpkin (probably better than Liddle) in our squad and we bought Api (a gun player). We have Doueihi and Wakeham in our squad and we can't buy any halves.

Brooks is significantly better than Douieihi and Wakeham and he has been for a while. Doueihi might make it back but no one should have any expectations of him making it as half. Wakeham should be resigned as well. We should also have enough money to try and pick up at least one junior half or some other option.

We need good roster management not emotional irrational decisions being made.

I cannot think of any other time in history a club has backed such an underachieving player for so long.

Without question.

Kyle has a few ordinary games, gets dropped to cup and now he's a hooker... yet it's groundhog day with us every week, expecting him to finally come good.

Unbelievable.
as for Kyle though dint think dogs will keep him.
I think if AD wasn't injured Brooks may well not have been signed but not many options at the price really

I stand by the comment.

Good roster management would've been identifying the need of a halfback years ago and addressing that issue.

Brooks is a 6 has been for a very long time. The inept nature of our management to get a halfback is hurting the club and Brooks also. No issue signing him as a 6 on 400k that’s what I think he’s worth. No world beater but solid first grade 6.
Agree, I have zero issue signing Brooks for $300-$400 (still overs) and playing Brooks as a 6 which is what he is, has been and always will be.

It's trolling. You are stating Brooks is solely to blame for every loss this club has had since he has played. We should just run with Brooks only. Just have one player on the field. I'm astounded you guys are posting such dribble.

Really ? How many halves have we signed since Brooks has been at the club ? Reynolds, Hastings, Benji and Douehi plus we tried to sign Moses and Johnston this season. We've tried. It's hard.

You guys are clearly trolling.

Let's come back to reality and rational arguments. If you can't come up with two better halves for next season that we are going to sign the discussion is over and you are wrong. It's actually that simple.

I also view him as a solid first grade 6 although I don't really care about the number on his back. I think 500k considering that is such a lack of talent in the halves in first grade is a fair wage.

And they all failed with Brooks in the team. You refute your own argument and you dont even know it. 🤡

Much as it pains me, it's probably our only other
option at the moment given we can't sign a big
name half & losing Doueihi for next year...
just move him to 6 and sign an organising
half to partner him next year, nothing else we
can do. Sheens is a stubborn old fart, he's put
us in this position to begin with by having the
hide to tell Jacko he's not a half, but going into
bat for this perennial loser Brooks. 10 Years
200 games 0 finals. Turnover of 5 coaches &
100+ players and hasn't been dropped once.
You can't make this stuff up, but c'est la vie ...

If I hadn't lost all confidence in this club already I have now.... what's it going to take to realise he is just simply not good enough. Poor bloke is probably gonna get abused tomorrow because of this as well, the fans & Luke don't deserve this.
Yep, I can't believe they would even think of making him an offer.

He needs to go, I honestly believe it would be best for him as well.

Basket case of a club. Move on our best player from 2022 to Parra one day, extend our worse player over the last decade (apart form maybe Nofa) the next.

I wonder if Luke accepts our offer, bet he has lots of other clubs desperate for his signature - NOT.

Seriously cut the cord already. It's been long enough.

Here's a few excuses from over the years in regards to defending Brooks.

1. He needs better forwards (no need to write down our 2023 forwards)

2. Needs a better hooker to get the ball out to him. (Farah 2018-19, Api 2023)

3. We need to build a side around him (Maguire, cleary and now sheens have done this)

4. We need a organising half and let Brooks just run the ball. (Tried that under Cleary with marshall and again under Maguire with hastings)

Look I don't hate the kid, I mean who wouldn't have signed that contract. This is solely on front office, recruitment and all coaches involved.

We cannot get any worse then just giving a junior a crack come round 16 and letting Brooks find a new home in 2024.

We keep saying no one wants to sign with us and we don't know why other then we are a basket case.

Has it occurred to anyone that maybe players don't want to play with our playmaker. It's probably nothing personal just simply a player who with their limited time in the game does not want to waste their career going nowhere.

I think you are 100% correct, yet expect us to sign Brooks for at least 2 more years.
