Luke Brooks #167

I really don't care where Brooks is on any awards board, just that he finally seems to be happy again and playing good footy on the back of it.

Sure, he has been average for a few years, yet still our best halves player throughout the disastrous Maguire tenure. Through which he clearly became less and less happy, to the point of wanting out, but still put his body on the line.

Our WT weren't winning early on in the season, with Api taking a few weeks to settle in amongst an ever changing spine, but things are on the up since Brooks got rid of his thigh strapping and had a steady spine alongside.

Any theory that his appearance on Behind The Roar this Saturday will be after a re-signing announcement hmmm
I'd say it's likely, especially considering they rescheduled the episode from the usual Wednesday arvo. a 2 year deal on no more than $700k I would be fine with. keep in mind we can subsidise a portion of his salary with the long serving player allowance, so would be around $600-650k on the books. hoping Wakes gets a new deal as well.

Lots of talk re Dally M - here it is the halves table

Have never been a fan of the Dally M points determining how good a player is but hard to argue with those in the top 10 so far this season although surprised Hughes from the Storm isn't in the top 30 of halves.

Has he been good this season ?
His games against Penrith and Cowboys were really great, off set by some real howlers, so as a first grade 7 and what they should bring to the table, I would say no he hasn't been good this season, his form seems to be trending in the right direction though now.

We are getting somewhere. That is good. In my opinion the coaching staff played him at the start of the season when he wasn't ready.

I don't believe that anyone stating that he is the reason for our 10 years of poor play is stating something that is reasonable in any way, shape or form. I don't believe that anyone can actually state this because I don't believe the human mind works that way. I read an article the other day and they stated how our brains simply can't contain that sort of information. It was related to books and television but I assume it's everything. We don't have the ability to store that much detail in our brains. It's just a feeling or an emotional reaction.

Those high waisted brooks undies must be digging in.
Of his 200 games, how many of them do you think are acceptable?
A first grade standard?
Lets be honest.

we will only re-sign Brooks due to the fact we could not land anyone that is better....a pretty sad indictment on the clubs recruitment ability..
Don’t agree, they were always keen on brooks. But as a running half, they have been just looking 4 a controlling half to pair up with him. Doueihi the backup but we won’t be seeing him for a long while.
I don’t get moving joffa on at this stage, unless we are signing someone else? Just doesn’t make sense otherwise, as we are not to far out of the eight.

Thanks Mikey, I don't check the Dally M, the judges have their favourites
All good. Your comment piqued my interest.
Do you still have the Duke? I've added a 1986 BMW R80 with a 1,000cc kit in it; and a same year BMW K75C to my stable recently.

I sure do mate, it could be on historic rego now it's over 30 years old, but I don't want to part with my PG-851 plate which is free to have, I bought it before the yearly charges were introduced.

I get that.
I have 5 on historic now so get to ride something every day for the cost of one full rego every year. Still got a DR 650 on full but the plan is to offload that and get a Honda NX Dominator so it can be on historic rego too. Also, on the lookout for a ute I can get on historic as well.

I’m pretty sure Brooks won’t regress once he signs a new deal , I can’t believe people think he will ,he would be busting to plays finals footy and we have players who have done it in Klemmer , API , Pappi , Bateman , to lead the way , yes we have had a shit show start but we all must admit we are getting better and should be at lease 2/3 wins more so far , With the young guys coming good like Stef and Bulla we be solid in 24 , and the club will add a couple more and move a bit more dead wood on ,

Doueihi has to go or move to another position. He cannot return to the halves and IMHO needs to prove himself on a trial and train contract in reserves.

We have to cull anyone not up to first grade standard. Joffa made that mark, but he isn't a superstar. Look IMHO we should have kept him and moved on Twal... but I trust that Sheens knows more then this keyboard warrior.

Brooks likewise should not be signed up for a long term contract.

Well we did sign someone better.

Jackson Hastings was then punted by the club.
Sure Hastings isn't a Gun or tier 1 halfback. But he clearly was a first grader starter.
We then hired Wakeham on what I thought wasn't that much less money then Hastings 550k contract....

^all of the above is utterly stupid..

^all of the above, is somehow working for us now !?!?
