Luke Brooks and Mitchell Moses - WT future?

For those who don't know the Balmain SG Ball five-eighth and halfback combo are also the Australian Schoolboys halves. These two guys are also both from Holy Cross and have been playing together for a loooooooong time. WT are absolutely blessed to have the two best under 18's halves in the country on our books and not only that but they have been building awareness of each other and combinations forever. The concern that we aren't giving Jacob Miller enough of a shot is a valid one but realistically if Mullaney was moved on for Tedesco then we're seeing the same thing here. Brooks and Moses are Tigers juniors to boot while Miller isn't.

Our lack of a seven won't matter when Luke Brooks comes of age. I just hope they are patient enough to stick around until Benji retires or we can somehow accommodate all three of them in a side because if either of those guys ever leave, that will be a tragedy. Does anybody know what the view of these two guys at WT is?

Flash can probably best answer this question, but I'm pretty sure they have both been signed for at least the next 2 years which will see them through NYC.

WT have a very high view of both players.

Problem is every coach and club in the NRL do as well. Especially Brooks.

Well if they are playin under 18's if they are that good of a team and can both handle the grind of the 20's they might be debut in like 4 years maybe, by then benji should be close to retiring

both freaks….there will be competition to sign both of them, im sure they will be a high priority for us (and prob other nrl clubs)

I imagine that they are friends right? Would staying together be an attraction for them? I would hate to break them up and put all those years of building a combination to waste. It's not often a halves combination come up from childhood and BOTH look certain to make the NRL. That's something that really can't be planned and should be nurtured. That I imagine puts us in the box seat.

Lets hope so,we have not had a halfback since 2006.

Or if Benny and the Perth franchise kicks off, I am sure they may well get targeted too.

That's true but I have to believe that the Tigers won't let BOTH of them be stolen. I think these two boys could be huge together.

As MacDougal said the trick will be keeping them interested till Benji retires. With the possibility of a couple of new teams their will be plenty of money floating around over the next few years and also plenty of real opportunities.A few years time a new coach and some new very good players–fantastic

Well, despite our desperation to fill the half back position, Sheens has played half the squad in the halves, except for Miller. He hasn't been re-signed for next year either which is a strong signal he may not be with us next year. This may potentially be because the club is making way for Brooks and Moses to transition to the U/20's next year? Honestly don't know.

You would have to think both kids would have been signed for at least 2-3 years based on their standout success?

Pretty sure Miller is signed for next year,we were looking at releasing him to Saints.

I was sure Miller also had a contract for next year.

Back on topic both Luke Brooks and Mitchell Moses look very promising talents for their age. I know some good judges who have a very high opinion of both players. The Tigers would do very well to keep both as a number of clubs will be after them.

Ideally both make it and stay their whole careers at the Tigers. If both are readdy for NRL before Benji goes, we may finally see Benji at fullback.

If Miller stays next year I would imagine he will be playing for the premier league side what ever that that will be , should be moving up from the kiddies league for progression.

I wonder what percentage of NYC players make the step up to NRL each season

Both amazing talents from all reports , but it is a massive road for them to travel until they become NRL players let alone established NRL players

I wish them both the best of luck on their journeys

The very best players from the entire age group (all clus) invariably come through to NRL without many problems, that said as a rule, from a winning SG Ball side id reckon it woul be unusual for more than 4 or 5 to progress to NRL careers (and often less) and from an average side 1 or 2 (or even none) is more likely the mark
