Luke Brooks has the YIPS!

I have been a fan of Brooks, but last night he cost us the game big time. I agree the team is trying and the defence is not too bad. But effort will not get the chockies if your key playmakers cannot get you across the line.
Same here I thought he would be better with a good pack , but just not the case

In sports, the YIPS are a sudden and unexplained loss of ability to execute certain skills in experienced athletes. Symptoms of the YIPS are losing fine motor skills and psychological issues that impact on the muscle memory and Decision Making of athletes leaving them unable to perform basic skills of their sport. Treatments include Sports Psychology therapy. The worst cases are those where an athlete does not recover at all forcing the player to abandon the sport at the highest level.
In summary Brooksy has "Performance Anxiety ".
Sudden and unexplained? Must not be Brooks then. He's been terrible for almost a decade and there is no explanation needed. Some players just aren't that good

He can't execute in the attacking zone. This is a slight exaggeration because he can execute but he comes up with the right option and executes well about 1 in every 100 times whereas the good halves get it right at least greater than 50% of the time.

He also can't handle pressure.

He is also an extremely poor ball player.

He is quick with a good running game.
He doesn't have a good running game. His running game is as bad as his ball playing because it has about the same success rate as his ball playing.

Like really, does his running lead more often to points/linebreaks or more often to a dead play?

He's quick. That's all.

What other half has had such a sustained career without success...even the players who never really lived up to hype were mostly crippled with injury e.g a moylan or moltzen. Brooks has been pretty injury free.

When players that haven't worked they have moved on and out of the game e.g ash Taylor, Brodie croft, comes to mind

He's an anomaly for sure.

You lost me when you said "sudden and unexplained loss of ability"

It would be fair if a Slater, Thurston, GI etc had the Yips, but we've all seen Brooks' potential.. if this game was a 1/10, at best he's hit a 4/10 in last 3 years. This isn't just Yips, this is a refusal to accept from everyone in charge that Brooks isn't suitable for First Grade at Tigers.

Unfortunately halfbacks or five eights don’t grow on trees. We revived one last year after he spent a few seasons playing fullback, hooker and 5/8 in the super league then moved him on.
He was one of the best young halves coming out a few years after Brooks debuted.
Who else honestly is there besides maybe Sexton who has it?
Could we get Sexton for Mammalo prehaps?

Naha he doesn’t have the yips if he did he would of thrown it Kepaoa’s head.
It was funny because after he had a go at Kepoa about something, I'm imagining his yelling at him telling him his head was 2 inches to far back

This is the issue. The only appealing option I've heard is the ESL players or just look for the best junior or two that are close to ready. 2 year contracts at best and just keep rotating until one or two work out.

It's not the team. It's not even the coaching staff including Madge.

Pezet from Melbourne should be our target. He’s behind Hughes and Munster and won’t get game time. He already looks superior to our halves and he’s played two games.

This is a great suggestion for us. He won't be worse than what we have now and could be considerably better.

Well we got the cash to get a gun half let's hope the club can spend it wisely which I have little faith in. We also need better depth and a good fullback.

It can force sportsmen like Golfer Ian Baker-Finch into retirement. Your point is correct in so much as Luke has been OFF for a number of years. If the coach and the club feel they need to play him because of his Tom Brady like salary then play him in a position where he does NOT need to think. Just run Forrest just run (I mean Brooksy).
So in summary, we should medically retire him.?
