Luke Brooks - Mega Thread

Its hard to say .. we've seen Brooks since he was a kid with the Tigers .. we've given he him plenty of time, trust and development into leading this team .. but he just never has developed into that leader. Like others have side maybe a change in scenery and that being a new club might bring the best out of him .. he has gone stale with the WestsTigers, so maybe it is that time to cut ties with the Tigers and move on.

We have some young exciting players coming through ..whether its going to be Madden or young up and coming players like Michael Tannous, Kade Hill or Tyronne Roberts .. all of these young half's have outstanding reports on them.

We have Doueihi, Hastings, and even Laurie down on our books as being able to play in the half's.

If Brooksie does leave us .. no ill respect to the lad and i even wish him all the best .. but if he stays knuckle down and do your best as your position this year wont be a shoe in .. !!

Well it will be with Doueihi’s injury.

And halfway through the year when Doueihi returns?

He could easily slot into the centre’s.

Let me rephrase: is Luke’s position still a shoe in when Doueihi returns?

A lot can happen between round 1 and when AD returns. Brooks/Hastings could click, Hastings could do his ACL, we could be depleted in the centre’s. I don’t have a crystal ball. I just know he’s a shoe in for round 1 if he’s here.

Let’s see what happens. Personally I’d like to see him under pressure for his spot as he has never really had anyone knock on the door to take his halves position.

We don't have enough in the halves to let him go.

I'd be keeping, him, AD would be best to come back through the centres anyway while he finds his fitness and confidence, not thrown into the halves as a saviour.
There will still be demand for excess halfbacks in 2023...

Pretty much would guarantee Madden starts in the halves. I know a few people have mentioned Peachy, but he’d be better served elsewhere. And I’m not sure how often 2 brand new players to a club have been thrown into the halves together and what the success rate of that is.

Chammas use to, now he has sold out to mainstream kids.. that's why he's on channel 9.. he landed the gig and needs numbers reading his crap articles.

I have to choose my words carefully, otherwise I get accused of hating Hastings. I just don’t think that halves combo would work. It pretty much puts everything on Hastings shoulders. And he himself is looking to re-establish himself as an NRL half.

We really do need a main playmaker, someone who when the pressure is on, can take control, and lead the way. Brooks is the most experienced we have, but that just isn't him. It's definitely too much to ask Madden a rookie to be that leader. Hastings could be, I don't know, I don't watch the ESL, but it's a lot of pressure to put on his shoulders.

Maybe Hodgson at hooker could really provide the direction. We need to get it from somewhere.

As much as I disliked Fitzy, his short kicking game was lethal. Had a great combination with John Wilson.

We truly are the NRL wrecking yard. Got a player wants to leave for France, pick up a player of the year. No issues there.
