Frustrated Wests Tigers officials declared on Thursday night they were fed up with speculation Luke Brooks was heading to Newcastle to replace Mitchell Pearce, with the No.7 having assured them it would not be happening.

Less than two weeks after new director of football Tim Sheens made it clear from England the halfback would be staying put until at least the end of 2023, talk of Brooks heading to the Hunter cranked into overdrive with four separate news reports suggesting he was all but a done deal.

Any comments?

Pretty clear Brooks wants out and his manager is assisting.

We really want you to stay Luke as injures have put us in a spot … this is the thinking that has led to 10 yrs of failure . Brooks does not fit anymore get of your butts let the guy leave if he wants and do your job and find someone that does !! If he wants to stay all well and good but the injury excuse is lame in the extreme even for this club !

The real question is why the Knights released Pearce without first having a replacement in situ?

All this clamouring smacks of desperation to try and free up a halfback prior to the start of the year, aided by the vendettas of a few on this forum and articles with few facts online and in the media.

He's under contract too, so is Pearce... they don't seem to mean much these days.
None of us knows what's really going on behind the scenes here - but there's plenty of noise.

Could end up with another Harry Grant style loan deal. Who's a good half that isn't getting a look in?

The names that come to my mind aren't exactly jaw dropping: Return of Benji, Widdop (in Australia atm), Corey Norman, Lachlan Lam, maybe even Maloney. Volkman was touted here as a big talent on here at the Roosters currently who is no hope of getting a look in.

bugger the knights don't release Brooks let them run with Tex hoy or something.
Or loan Madden to the knights for experience

This is pretty funny. We definitely shouldn't let Brooks leave if we are paying a cent of his contract. He rarely gets injured. His defense is pretty good for a half. He can set up and score tries. He also has a decent kicking game. The problem is the guy isn't a top level NRL player and we need about 5 of those players added to our team.

Wait a minute..it just struck me..If Brooks is so rubbish why are Newy even interested..... Surely with Clifford , Crossland, Mann, Hoy even Pongo they can cover Pearce.. Didn't former WT jnr Camaroux go there too..
