Luke Brooks - Mega Thread

Sheens says yes - from DT

Sheens also reiterated that Brooks would remain at the Tigers.

“I told you weeks ago it wasn’t going to happen,” Sheens said of Brooks.

“He trained yesterday and trained again today with a smile on his face. Let’s bury the speculation. At the end of the day I was comfortable we were keeping him.

“He looks in good spirits. He doesn’t need any more publicity or pressure from anyone.”

I cant wait to see our spine play behind a pack that can dominate. Been so long since we have had a pack, I mean wolves not pansies. I don’t ever recall seeing a half killing it behind a soft pack like we have endured for years. If Cayless can’t get some starch in the boys will be a long year. And you could have any spine and wouldn’t make a difference. I bet Bullfrogs go alright, ie their mediocre spine behind their pack.

And ok a centre or 2 would also help! But I am already looking forward to 2023!!!! Bring it on. 2022 will determine who wants to stay or who will be shown the door. Well at least 1/2 dozen I hope go. If you can’t defend then go work in Coles!

Who ever is halfback .I hope they are barking orders on our dismal 4th and 5th tackle plays in attack .that's what we need from Hastings. We r probaly goin to have to settle with brooks at 5/8

Every captain we’ve had has failed at barking. What does that tell you mate?
A 7 can spend only so much time organising everyone else’s game until it has a detrimental effect on his own game.

Well said.

Look at Nathan Cleary. He is incredibly hands off at times, like a step back from where a 7 would be.

I think this lets him focus on kicking and field position.

I believe Brooks is a NR6, maybe even Fullback. He has great Speed, decent passing and can run the line to score. His team managrment is woeful

Yet hey, some coach in little league said he was a 7 and we have to respect that, right?

You’re right Brooks has all the skills.
All the panthers forwards know how to pass. Yeo plays first receiver and often has an inside forward to pick up or send it wide to Cleary. A lot of the time their opposition are kept tight because of that little play, giving Cleary time to boil the kettle.
We have only one guy around the ruck who can pick up a runner with a deft pass so the ball goes to him every time. We don’t make the opposition work. I don’t know what Brooksy’s best position is but it’s got to be 6 or 7?

I’d like to see him at 6. His defence is good (which we need at 6) and his running game would be more damaging from there.

He had a game at 6, in 2020. Benji had an ordinary game that day at 7 and Kepaoa dropped far too many balls for an NRL player. Knights won 44-4. I thought Brooks had a reasonable game that day.

Somewhere in a different universe 😂😂

shoppe him in the front window in a parasol, all the talk is Newcastle will take over his contract,c ya bye

Looks like we're stuck with him. Hopefully Tim gets in his ear and gives him some confidence. Hastings at 7 should help.
All you need to do is run the ball. Stop kicking and just run. Don't worry about anybody else. Run.forest, run.
