Luke Brooks - Mega Thread

Sheens wants him, read his interview with Rothfield. Benji rates him and wants to mentor him. End of story. You need to embrace reality,
Just because that's likely, doesn't mean I have to like it...

We've been a laughing stock for years.
Why stop now ? 😂

It'd be all levels of insane for the club to allow Hastings to leave our club and persist with Brooks further.

Yes, he's slow but he's shown so much more in the short time he's been here than Brooks ever has. From game management to leadership...

This is the reality though like you say and it literally makes no sense- maybe someday it will.

At least you'll be able to cheer your sharkies on when they make finals each year.

The anger and frustration comes with Brooks because he just doesn’t do enough.
He never leads the stats in any category.
Hastings and Doueihi both outplayed him and did some of his work for him.
His output never matches his salary and that makes him a target for criticism.

We're never going to agree. I rate Brooks obviously those who make the decisions and have the footballing knowledge do as well. Hasting will be 13 because that is where he was purchased to play by Sheens. Paul Langmack and Ian Russell say hello.

People can be like mindless sheep sometimes.
Corey Parker being critical of Brooks’ and players doing hit ups with 30 seconds on the clock.
If Brooks had succeeded with his plan and nailed the 2 pointer, the boys would have gone into extra time rejuvenated. It’s as fashionable as a 3/4 coat, if you’re one of the movers and shakers, to be bagging Brooks.

It's OK to disagree...

With Milford heading to the dolphins, my only hope is when Newcastle comes knocking, again....

Brooks' puts his foot down and demands the release. Clearly the club doesn't want it but everyone has a choice and Brooks should be granted this parting wish.

1, What is his salary? The club hasn't revealed this figure yet you and others keep hitting him over the head with it.
2. Sheens said it is not Brooks' fault his contract is backdated.

For argument sake, let's just say he's the highest paid player on the roster.

Salary unknown.
Definitely more than everyone else's though.

The club has a bigger plan involving all three. We watched the shoots grow yesterday. There was much more second phase play than I've seen in years. Obviously players will take time to get used to it again. I'm onboard.

Your speculating, and until the club releases a figure, that's all it is. Sheens will know his worth and no doubt his next contract will be indicative of that worth.

Everyone is on board, poor decisions or not...

Let's sPeCuLatE though...

Clubs need halves, we have 3.. 4....
With the 3 being our main guys and Madden the 4th.

We won't be able to keep all 3 if other clubs want them at their preferred position for a fair price.

I believe we will lose 1.... maybe 2 with Madden on the way out potentially as well.

Speculating is all we can do but common sense has to come into play.

Sheens may think he is worth 400k a year because he isn't (in majority of people's eyes) a "gun half"

However Newcastle may think he's perfect for them and be willing to pay 600k

The choice is still his where he chooses to sign.

For anyone upset that Brooks is getting targeted for his lack of ability and why other players aren't targeted too. Let's be real, most of the team is subpar and deserve a roasting too. I don't think anyone is claiming Brooks is the only problem. The arguement for Brooks to be dropped isn't as stale as his performances and it's not an attack on him as a person , but a professional sporting athlete that is underperforming. Brooks is the half, Brooks is supposed to be steering the ship, Brooks is the highest paid player in the squad, so too right he deserves to be questioned and held acccountable. The goons that run this club are too scared to drop the highest paid player in fear of more media scrutiny.

Doueihi missed the tackle on the right when we had them deep in their half at the start of the game. They were in our quarter after that. Shortly after, he put that stupid short kick through that was dangerous, dangerous to us which resulted in a try to the Panthers. Not a word about it on this forum.

You have just said it which is good and AD deserves to be roasted and held accountable for it. Give it to him, as that's unacceptable for professional sporting athlete. These players get far too many excuses made for them.

Our whole forward pack were lazy yesterday and the majority of the first 2 or 3 hit ups were done by backs. I don't care if you've just been defending (our defense is soft anyway), every other team can tackle and have their forwards take the dirty hit ups. We are too weak, too slow and too soft.

Brooks is number 3 in the pecking order as illustrated by his stats and involvement every week.
When Hastings was half he’d rack up 100 touches a game Brooks 47
When Brooks was a running 5/8 he’d rack up 50 meters a game Doueihi 116 and Hastings always outdid him as well.
Brooks is supposedly our best defensive half. Hastings and Doueihi both racked up better stats.
We are told he has a great long kick. Doueihi racked up 5 x as man meters.
One line break assist, no try assists, no tries
Hastings passed the ball 20 more times playing lock.
What exactly does he bring to the team?

My point is this, we don't make the kick we win the game. I like Doueihi, he has a lot of talent but is coming back from a second ACL. He will take time and I understand this fact.

The positives are the second phase play from 13, Kepaoa (also coming back from an ACL and chest injury) played very well and has the makings of a fine centre. That pass for Tupou's try was sublme. Tupou also continued his good form. Brooks had them both on his left and looked after them during the game. That is the sign of a player taking responsibility. Note how Cleary targeted Doueihi and kept coming his way in defence?

Stats are great but the fact is if Doueihi hadn't done that dumb kick, we win the game. I know you continue to load this on Brooks but this is the reality. Cleary also targeted Doueihi on the right with the Panthers' attack.

Your argument is fair...

It's like AD is returning from injury in a position he hasn't played 180 games in though.

I said before - the more time at 6, the better he will get.
