Who’s making excuse’s?

Didn’t know you had to make excuses for the dally m halfback of the year.

Had 4 different 6s
5 different 9s
And 4 different 1s
hopefully a lot more consistent team chosen for 2019 might help him

Even you know they are excuses.

Really!!!
Maybe you could read it as a subtle compliment to a bloke who won the Dally m half of the year with the most inconsistent spine.
But you seem to be a glass is half empty type of bloke.
So have it your way.

And before you take another snippet of my post and try and change the context, I said he went to another level!!!
And I guess the games elite judging panel agrees because of the awards he won after the seasons end.
There’s a reason most tigers fans wanted to keep Brooks.
Because he reached that level last year.

Some people will argue simply for the sake of it.

That shows good self-awareness. Brooks doesn't need any excuses. He killed it last season. There are players that do need excuses such as everyone barring Lawrence, Brooks and Mbye.

Good on you Brooksy. Glad to hear he really wants to be here and excel under a coach who also wants to be here. I'm really looking forward to seeing how Luke and Reynolds gel as our playmakers, in hopefully an injury free year.

Gambles fanboy… Whaddya expect?

Luke Brooks improved a lot last year but he is hardly a top class halfback.

Its great his supporters are happy, the signing does give us some stability but until he starts winning semi finals and playing at an Origin level none of us can say this a great signing.

Its an ok signing. A good signing.

Thats about it.

Its 5 more years based on his 'potential' to go to the elite level.

Until he gets there its no different to every other Wests Tigers player who has had potential and promised more.

That's the spirit Brooksy, Get that up ya Roosters, you thought you had him for 2020\. $3 million over 4 years, that's $750k a year for the Dally M halfback of the year, probably far less than what the Roosters would of offered him. Knowing the Roosters they probably would of offered him $900k a season with about $350k extra a year in brown paper bags.

It does say well north of $3 million a year for 4 years, so it probably isn't anything like $750k a year

Yep, probably around $800K a year, maybe more, who knows. Happy he signed, It would have been tough to take if he left.

I’m not so sure,
Ready’s tweet includes his salary for next year in the total package which is essentially five years inclusive of the 2019 year, north of 3 mil but not eclipsing 4 mil.
If we go off 4 mil and divide that by 5 you see 800,000 a year. Factor in his current wage of 550,000 and divide that by the 5 we’ve secured him for 690,000 a season flat rate. And that’s going off 4 mil as a minimum. Could even be less.

Seriously? What exactly does he have to do you in your eyes to be a top class halfback? Represent at SOO or Australian level? What criteria would you accept? Specifics please. Genuinely interested in what makes a top class halfback.

Great news ….. what a difference in attitude to all the crap that went on with Big Three drama.
Congratulations son and well done to WT management.

Not elite level…...
So winning the Dally M means what?
If not mistaken I thought it was the best club halfback of the year.

By that logic, Teddy was never an elite player until he went to the Roosters, which is rubbish.

Mike, he can’t control a game.
He literally only had one good game a month last year.
Dally Ms are a nice feather but they certainly do not tell the proper story.
His kicking game is bang average.
He goes missing in big moments.
He throws masses of hospital passes.
His fifth tackle options are just not top class.

Listen, he isn’t SOO or any rep simply because he isn’t good enough. YET.

He very well might get to a higher level, but that will come with playing consistently at the level he plays for that one game a month.

We ALL hope he gets there, but perhaps before shooting down everyone who knocks Brooks, all the Brooks fan club May just want to review last years games (and every other year).
Brooks fans wear rosy glasses every off season. I really don’t know why.
He is good. It’s a good signing.
Let’s not get carried away.

Nope. That’s illogical.
Find another angle.

Thanks for the common sense.

Maybe with a forward pack that's near origin level & capable of winning semi finals may Luke be able to produce similar efforts, because we all know we haven't had that pack since…... well.... ever.
Whoops... More excuses

Yep congrats to Brooksy. Had his best year in first grade last year but still plenty of room to improve & become a consistently top-line half.

I liked the fact that Madge mentioned he is impressed by his hunger to learn & improve.

I think the stability will do him & the team the world of good.

To this day he has never played behind a top shelf forward pack. A lot of people seem to forget that. We were 2nd last or something rubbish in post contact metres this season, a halfbacks job becomes a hell of a lot more difficult when the ruck isn't being won or controlled. In the games we did do this, Brooks was always one of our best.

It astounds me that with the amount of footy expertise on this forum some expect Brooks to be a star in an average team.
Now I’m not putting myself out there as an expert on footy at an elite level but I played and coached (and watched) enough footy to know that when a forward pack does not win the battle up front, the half suffers. Also when ball from the ruck is slow or inconsistent, the half suffers. Brooks has had both these go against him fairly consistently.
Even his 5th tackle plays are effected when we are not getting a roll on.

I think all things considered we should be bloody thankful the kid has a passion for our club and is willing to stick it out
