The most depressing aspect of that loss is that we are stuck with this guy. Just can't see how we move him on.

I thought the most depressing thing about yesterday was our defense personally...

Yes it was.

But after the game the reality of his contract and recent contract extension sunk in.

Was thinking similar with Nofo.

Having Nofo in the team is the equivalent of a $400k cap penalty until 2025.

He would kill it at another club and people like you would be the first to complain

I totally agree this will be the case. But he will probably play in the 6 at any other club.

But he doesn’t want to play 6. He wants play 7 and be in control of the team. Time to move on for both parties. Yes we have bigger issues in defence but he is it not our answer in the halves. Douhei has done more in the halves in 4 games then Brooks has done in 150z

The half isn’t the problem right now, he’s top of league in try assists, equal-3rd in line-break assists and we have scored 22 or better 3 weeks in a row.

He is having a good season but he isn't a great player. It's just that he is doing his job and the team aren't.

But he is not doing his job. Ineffective kicks, poor plays and folding under pressure are not part of the job description.

He wasn't great yesterday but he wasn't that poor. Last week he was good. I agree that yesterday he didn't do enough on a couple of plays.

I don't see any folding under pressure at all. Brooks made his tackles and we lost that game on defense.

He did his job yesterday.

I accept he isn't a great player and I'd happily replace him with someone better but personally I don't see many if any great halves in the comp.

The top players are now fullbacks. Would any half be in the top 10 players in the comp ?

That's the point exactly. Lots of average halves going around.

Benji had a good night with Rabbits but we all know exactly what he is and is not capable of. Milf / Dearden / Croft not having a good run, though I think Dearden is actually an above-average talent.

GNikorima and O'Sullivan at Warriors - average. DCE's been having a poor year but he did kick that one field goal. George Williams was appalling against Penrith, his team totally out-muscled 2nd half. Connor Watson and Blake Green supposedly experienced heads to replace Mitchell Pearce, had nothing on Titans, who themselves had to use Tanah Boyd when Ash Taylor was injured.

Bulldogs - well Kyle Flanagan is proving Trent Robinson correct, but by the same token they are a rubbish team and Flanagan had no problem "steering" Roosters to the finals after being head-hunted from Sharks, who instead had to rely on The Chad to get home, and he failed to do so.

It certainly wasn’t Brooks’ fault Wests Tigers lost that game but it is absolutely on him that Wests Tigers didn’t win either.

That literally makes no sense. Lost and "didn't win" are the same thing. Either it's his fault, or it isn't.

No there is a difference, sorry you don't see it.

Benji was probably the most creative half in the comp last season. His defense is terrible and his error rate is really high.

Who are the top quality halves. I don't really rate Cleary but is he the best half in the comp. I mean he is great defensively and has a great kicking game but compared to Andrew Johns or Peter Sterling or Steve Mortimer or heaps of past halves he isn't that good.

You aren’t wrong; there are no halves at the moment who are nearly as good as those in the past. You don’t even have to compare to greats. And even though it’s a different game nowadays a top halfback can still thrive eg Thurston or Cronk. I don’t know where they’ve gone, 7 was the glamour position.

Brooks covered Lucianos arse plenty of times in defense . It should be the complete opposite

What do you mean folding under pressure exactly ? Like when the cowboys winger ran rings around Nofa to score full field? Or when the cows put up the kick and Nofa didn’t even contest the ball?

And my memory fades me but ... didn’t we score 2 tries directly related from a Brooks kick? (The grubber and the knock back for Laurie)

The whole team was culpable for the first half shambles and the whole team lifted in the second half.

The first half was as much about toothless attack as rubbish defence, Brooks played well i the second half as did most of the team but shares the culpability for the first half horror show.

The only thing I'm going to say on this thread is that the gutless people who abused him after the game should hang their heads in shame. The abuse that was directed towards Luke Brooks last night was disgusting.

Well I can tell you one thing about Brooks ..was lucky enough to be sitting on the TRY-line where all but 2 TRIES were scored and can tell you when the Wests Tigers were behind the goal post Mr Tamou... when he was on ...stood tall like an Easter Island mute statue and Brooks was doing the talking ..Also during the comeback it was Brooks screaming and organising both right and left attack..

Which I thought was odd ..

Might also be why Tamou never went back on...

Well that's a positive for Brooks at least.

Absolute cowards mate

Same old same old.
Brooks played great, it was everyone elses fault lol
The bloke has told everyone on plenty of occasions its his team ... well the team sucks under his direction (or lack of it).
He's had too many chances and just hasn't got it in him.
Going somewhere else might do him as much good as us.

No there is a difference, sorry you don't see it.

There isn’t a halfback in the game that would have made a difference for us yesterday.

We conceded 34 points, people need to stop watching the game with their Luke Brooks blinkers on. If we defend with the slightest bit of urgency we win that game.

We are losing games because we can’t defend, it’s that simple. We are the first team in 100 years to concede 26 points in 15 straight games and people think our halfback is the problem ?‍♂️

I'll bag Brooks when he deserves it. He didn't yesterday. Plenty of others did,

im not sure if this has been posted already but i heard that Tamou questioned Madges game plan and they had a blow up in dressing room at half time that is why he didnt come on in second half..

This is why I'm wary about blaming Brooks too much. He is a non dominant half like heaps of halves in the comp.

Douiehi is the guy we need to come up with the big plays. Brooks will create some chances and he should make his tackles. Brooks should also be paid accordingly.

The number on their backs doesn't really change anything.
