Yesterday Flanagan was hooked mid game looks like reserve grade for him after 8 games ..Brooks just can not cut it after 150 games and is the first selected every week ... Why is this ?

Only changes would be cini, mybe and maybe Simpkin for liddle. I also would prefer a more impact bench, but I doubt Madge will drop seyfarth. We seem to score points well even though at times we look clunky. Our issue is DEFENCE and ATTITUDE!!

They issues are in caps for the muppets blaming the halfback for the team leaking points weekly.

I know that’s what they’ll be , but Luci needs a stint on the bench . His defence is shocking at the moment . Honestly . He’s good for a huge clock off at crucial times in the game . He’s a great footy player , but he needs to work on his mental application for 80 mins . It’s guys like him , who I think Madge is talking about . Enigmatic types .

I wonder if all the players are starting to "clock off" They must be sick of going to training each week and coming up with losses almost each weekend, so they would simply have no confidence now, they probably need a couple of days off with a good psychologist or a change in strategy on the training field because it's obvious to all of us, that something is wrong and what they are trying to do is NOT WORKING😢

People also need to call a spade a spade and recognise that magical 2018 dally M halfback of the year was the best year of his career and a complete fluke. A year where he was still a below average halfback, but was on a team with no star players that won a considerable number of scrappy games 12-8 or so and he scored a bunch of tries from lost balls or offloads to get points clueless judges.

Everyone defended him saying he needed Benji and Farah to go so he could make the team his own. He's had 8 years to make the team his own and has done nothing, only hurt the team. Now the new line is that Doueihi needs to take charge so Brooks can play his natural game.

OK but a couple of things.

(1) Bulldogs already dead last, what do they have to lose? I understand Tigers are only 1 win better, but in a battle to keep away from the bottom of the table, it's the last-place side that will possibly take the biggest risks.

(2) Flanagan isn't as good a footballer as Brooks, and that's saying something. Brooks has at least shown high-level performance at Tigers for periods in his career - you can argue either way whether that means if Brooks can get to his best, he's decent quality, or that Brooks is proven to be too inconsistent. But Flanagan has never reached that level, not even playing for Roosters.

(3) Flanagan is signed with Bulldogs until end 2023. It may be a smart play to drop him now, and he may respond, or Barrett may have just put a bullet in an expensive contract that Bulldogs will have to carry for 2.5 more seasons.

(4) Brooks was benched for 3 rounds in 2020, did it make him a better footballer? Did the team improve? He was replaced by Billy Walters.

(5) Who are Bulldogs going to play this week instead of Flanagan, if he is dropped? Brandon Wakeham? Lachlan Lewis is injured I think. JMK? It's all well and good to drop someone to set an example, but Bulldogs are seriously light on options, and trying to promote those options into a very ordinary side does not bode well.

So I'm not saying there aren't parallels and Luke Brooks does not deserve to be dropped, but it's really a desperation play rather than a "smart" move.

Not even Tigers are expecting him to save us from Brooks? Mobile lock has always been the comment? I'm pretty sure Tigers are looking to create a Cam Murray / Cheese type role of the mobile, tough, ball-playing lock.

I do hope Brooks gets dropped, so at least we can experiment with the sole backup option (Madden) and put that argument to bed once and for all.

Then for 2022 or 2023, take our Packer and Mbye money and purchase the best halfback money can buy, and get that argument off the table too. I couldn't even tell you if any decent halfbacks are available for the next few seasons, because they are rare as hens' teeth and Cowboys have basically signed the two halfbacks I was aware of, one of whom I think is a very average footballer.

He's got zero confidence and is a liability out there.

Madden is probably not the answer right now, but he's got potential to one day be it. No point watching Brooks make the same mistakes over and over again.

I hope he picks madden so when we concede over 30 and lose and you all have no scapegoat

And if Madden slays it ?
Will you concede ?

I hope Madden slays it. But I’m not as confident in his abilities as many others are.

Madden would undoubtedly try but he wont fix our main problems. The 2 problems are mainly our poor attitude in defence and not adjusting quickly enough when something goes wrong. That is all a mental problem. We saw it last night because as soon as Cini dropped the high ball our composure was under 7s standard and they basically watched the opposition score 18 points quickly. We are not good enough to give starts like that.
We have mentally weak players and it shows each and every week.

Depends if madden is more of a leader on the fields to yell and bark orders for this team

If I was Jock Madden, I would do two things:

1. At my next game, I would spend the whole game SCREAMING at people. Doesnt matter what he is saying, just as long as a vein pops up in his forehead and spit is flying from his mouth.

2. Book myself onto a podcast.

I think if Jock can introduce these two things into his game, he will be a lock in first grade for a long time.

In fairness that was a totally arsey pickup from Fogarty, 1/100 outcome. It's one thing to put in a clearly bad kick for bad outcome, it's another thing entirely to put in a possibly good low kick and have it snatched out of air like a slips fieldsman.

In fairness, that kick was struck in such a way that it wasn’t going to travel more than a couple of meters beyond the line. It seemed like an attempt to kick in the space between the line and Brimson rather than a miss kick, That’s why Foggerty was able to scoop it up.

The halfback in ANY team is always the one under pressure when the team is failing.
It seems we are the only club who doesn’t do something about it - no matter how long it drags on.
First thing I would do today is get on the phone to England and offer to pay whatever transfer fee they want to get Hastings here right ASAP.
It’s now just embarrassing watching Brooks flounder and drag the team down with him…. and even more embarrassing to be a supporter.

Everybody stop blaming everyone except the person I want to blame ! Hypocrisy much ?

Well... that certainly doesn't make any sense.

Jackson Hastings

Hastings was horrific last night

You’re just a hater ?

It was scary ...THAT is our future

Bring the petrol and matches

What were his stats ?
Apparently that’s all that matters according to some ?

Stats are he is playing in the ESL behind arguably the best forward pack and couldn't roll Hull

Stats are he's probably won 80% of matches he's played in over the last 3 years. Including with a bog average Salford pack in front of him. I wouldn't write him off over 1 loss to a strong Hull side (coached by Hodgo!)

It’s reserve grade mate ! Look at what Liddle and Simpkin are doing in KOE cup , and now look how nullified they are in NRL. I’m not confident at all Hastings isn’t just a squad player , no better than Billy Walters .

Do you really think Wigan wouldn't flog the Magpies?

Yes NRL is the superior comp right now, but Super League is nowhere near as bad as people make out. And it consistently produces players who star in the NRL.

So, you'd sack the coach before or as well as Brooks? What if the new coach wants to sack Brooks too? Where would you stand with that? Just curious.

Ive turned to Madge must go despite all the reasonable arguments of bad look and his plan is working. A new coach could be given some instruction to work within the basic club policy of working with youth that has been developed by Hartigan and Maguire, so they dont stray too far in a new direction meaning another total rebuild. Maguire- results count and you just cant ignore that. In my books same with Brooks..

The Coach has to go. Brooks is a fine NRL half. I'm sure a new coach will keep Brooks for that reason.

If by "fine" you mean worst in the NRL (apart from the Bulldogs until Burton arrives) then you are correct.

Brooks is a liability

It seems we are the only club who doesn’t do something about it - no matter how long it drags on.
First thing I would do today is get on the phone to England and offer to pay whatever transfer fee they want to get Hastings here right ASAP.
It’s now just embarrassing watching Brooks flounder and drag the team down with him…. and even more embarrassing to be a supporter.

Everybody stop blaming everyone except the person I want to blame ! Hypocrisy much ?

Well... that certainly doesn't make any sense.
You're better off sticking with calling people fools or stupid ....or telling them how much better you understand the game than anybody who doesn't agree with you.

Why do I not get to reply to this ?
