The club has to part ways with Brooks in the offseason. If we shop him around, we may find a club willing to pay 500 of his 850 salary in the hope that he rediscovers his 2018 form. It's the best chance that he has to revive his career as well.

You’re dreaming if you think any club would pay him 500k. As previously said, the club is already paying half of Mbye’s contract. Highly unlikely they move him on, pay half his contract as well, AND sack and pay out the coach. Then there will also be some delusional enough to think we’ll offload Noffa as well. Simply won’t happen.

Why wouldn’t they. They are paying Townsend $750k. Unless you have information no one else on here has? Enlighten us.

What’s Townsend got to with it? It’s Simple economics. No club is going to move more than 1 player on and have to pay almost a million dollars for them to play at other clubs. Brooks may get tapped on the shoulder at the end of next year when Mbye is off the books. Won’t be before that though.

Yes they would, we are paying $400k for mbye and could pay $250 - $300k to get brooks of our books. If clubs were willing to pay $750k for Townsend then I reckon there are clubs like the raiders that would pay $500k for him. If he isn’t playing hooker next year , he should not be playing first grade. A total disaster of a player.

So why would another club want to pay 500-600k for a disaster of a player? Especially considering they could get Ash Taylor at half that price and twice the output. It’s such a funny contradiction. Everyone saying how bad he is, yet thinking it’s a given that other clubs would want to take him off our hands.

Is mbye a disaster of a player? That should answer your question about another club taking a chance on a disaster player. What’s your opinion on brooks? I see you love to comment but sitting on the fence all the time will give you splinters.

Why would a club pay that amount for Brooks, when they could sign Ash Taylor for half the price and twice the output? I think he struggles big time, but I don’t let it take over my life like a lot of other people on here. And I don’t delude myself into thinking he’ll be shopped to another club when that’s highly unlikely. At least for 2022 anyway.

I have been supportive of Luke for a long time but the decline in his game has been very noticeable, especially in the last 6 weeks or so. Up until then, even though he wasn't always at his best, he was definitely trying his best. In many games he was one of the only guys giving his all, but something has definitely changed and he looks broken to me now. It looks to me like he has finally succumbed to all the negative stuff being said about him and the huge weight and pressure on him, and he has completely lost his confidence and all the aspects of his game. His kicking game went first, then his running game and his speed, his passing game followed and now even his defence.
He was always quite emotionless during a game but now he is even showing his frustration and anger. The season has come to an end and I bet he is happy it's over because he looks like a guy who needs to regroup mentally, emotionally and physically. Luke needs to decide about whether his future still lies with the Tigers or whether he'd be better off elsewhere.

Why would having a strong opinion on brooks = “taking over someone’s life”. Why would anyone be deluded to want him gone next year.

I didn’t say people are deluded to want him gone, I said it’s deluded to think he will be. Big difference.

Happy was wearing a bra …. Put any bloke off his game .

The decline started we the death rider jumped on board.. coincidence…I think not..

I don't think he is the halfback to take us anywhere. It is unfortunate cos as many have said; he has the talent. But lacks the leadership, killer instinct, and personality that is required for a top-tier half. The last while he has looked defeated very early on in games and then just goes through the motions praying for the game to end. Even in interviews, he STILL looks out of his depth. I feel sorry for the bloke cos even if he goes to another club, the pressure won't be off. Everyone will say "Ok let's see how he goes now."

But see here is the issue. A lot of people disagree about the *talent* part. He isn't very talented imo and that's his greatest issue. He is way too average to be given such an important role. People throw around words like "personality" and "killer instinct" when the guy simply cannot kick well, and has no variety in his game, and his running game is barely effective against only the bottom four. Like seriously, when was his last line break? He is easily one of more talentless halves in the comp.

If he was a talented first grader he would have won that game for us yesterday.

He has a lot of upsides - he is fast, he can defend (mostly), he throws a great little short pass and he has a decent kicking game.

The problem is those attributes do not make a top quality first grade halfback as we've seen throughout his career. I've also thought he could do the job with a top tier team around him.

I reckon he will be here next year but Hastings and Doueihi will take over the halves spots throughout the year. I think Hastings and Doueihi are going to be a much better combination than Brooks and any other option.

Players Union players player award, the nomination from the Tigers was Brooks.

@Finesttigers
Yesterday's embarrassing defeat was actually for the betterment of realising the true state of some players, and your post above further highlights the deficiency in the mentality of these players who have nominated him for the award, Or it could be that these players know that Brooks is a guarded player by some high ranking people and therefore the players are obliged to show fake nomination of the award for him?

Such a great post. I could not have written it better @TigersSJ

In all seriousness, this thread is reflecting Brooks decline in form at the same time that we are baying for the coach to be sacked. Isnt obvious that the two are likely to be linked?
