Overall definitely played better. Like many of our players, he is still nowhere near good enough, but he was better on Sunday.

In defense he had a few strong tackles but due to a few real howlers I don't think we can commend his defensive effort in this game.
In attack he was tighter and played within himself. Made less mistakes. He ran well and gave that lovely pass for the line break/try. His kicking game was more controlled, yet like the rest of his game - still uninspiring.

Something he has struggled with!

This week will tell us a lot. He really needs to take it to Moses and better him.

I do not find his defence is the issue he is a pretty good defender for his size .

I love me some Jimmy Maloney. He’s our man.

:grinning: Class half that guy.

I wasnt talking about his defence.

Its his heart, he goes to water when the big boys are charging at him when he has the ball.

Watch a replay of any Roosters game he has played and JWH torments him. Most of his mistakes are on the back of JHW pressure.

Paulo is the next man up who torments him.

he needs to step it up in that kind of situation if he is to ever silence his critics.

There are many legitimate reasons to criticise Brooks, this is not one. Many many occassions where he puts his body in front of big players and pulls them down. He is an above average defender for his size. Physics is physics however.

Not surprised you didn't understand my post. Hard when youre triggered.

I'm talking about when he has the ball.

Was pretty clear what I wrote.

Turns out you are correct.......misread it.

**Wests Tigers hold meeting with Luke Brooks amid interest from North Queensland Cowboys**

The Wests Tigers have held a sit down meeting with halfback Luke Brooks to ensure the no. 7 the club wants the playmaker to remain at Concord.
Brooks still has this season plus two more at the Wests Tigers but has been heavily linked to the North Queensland Cowboys in the past fortnight.

Brooks, 26, played under 20s for Wests Tigers when Cowboys coach Todd Payten was coaching at the joint venture.

The Tigers spoke to Brooks in the lead-up to their first victory of the season over Newcastle last Sunday to assure the halfback the club wants to retain the local junior long-term.

“We’ve told Luke we believe in him and we want him to remain our halfback,” Tigers general manager of football Adam Hartigan said.

“There’s never been any indication about him wanting to play anywhere else.”

The Cowboys are expected to enter the open market in search of a playmaker with Michael Morgan currently exploring being medically retired.

The move will mean North Queensland is cashed-up and can make a play for an established half.

Current Cowboys no. 7 Jake Clifford has signed with the Newcastle Knights for next season and is believed to be committed to the deal.

The Tigers have been linked to English Super League Man of Steel Jackson Hastings over the course of the past fortnight.

The joint venture is looking at Hastings to fill a utility player style of position for next season and beyond.

Tigers coach Michael Maguire has personally spoken to Hastings.

No deal is expected to struck anytime soon.

I can see Brooks leaving the whispers were out well before the media talk that Payten wants him up in NQLD. I think he will go well up there sometimes players need a change especially when playing in battling sides for years. Cowboys are terrible but there’s not as much media pressure up there.

For mine this looks like a CLASSIC media beat up. The initial article merely said that Payten coached him in U20's and they need a half. End of story. That led to discussion here. Next thing the articles start talking about "rumours" of Brooks to NQ. I think we cant trace the "rumours" to a News Ltd thought bubble.

If he was to go, I think it would be a similar career path for Esan Marsters. I think NQ are facing many years in the wildness IMO.

God you spray some garbage sometimes . It’s seriously confirmation bias you’re seeing . Yes and it’s also the reverse for myself , and many others on here . But I acknowledge that . Brooks is a lot of things but a pea heart is not one of them . And the toughest dudes on earth would be wary if a grub like JWH was coming at you hard when your in an extremely vulnerable position like kicking . It’s literally the reason why he’s coming at you . It doesn’t make you a pea heart . How many dudes have had thier career ended by someone diving at the legs , or breaking thier jaw with a swinging arm . The rule has changed , but that doesn’t prevent the action from happening . It just punishes it .

.....or, people who actually understand football arent keen on replacing a critical position with a kid who on evidence, has played one decent game of football against weak opposition.

I can understand the incentive to replace Brooks, but I want to be convinced that there is a replacement definitely better because if its not, we will struggle for another 5-10 years.

This would be the Tigers best offload ever if this happens!

Please go Brooks. Bring in Madden.

Bring in anyone else!

Geeeez you write a fair comment and it gets downvoted heavily and immediately by the fan club. So tiring honestly. It’s like Brooks has his own online marketing team.
That, or memories worse than goldfish on here. This forum is worse than Facebook sometimes.

Yeah , I’m sure that’s what the down votes were for

Not the fact his solution was a 34 year old Jimmy Maloney or a Rookie who has barely stood out in reserve grade to take the reigns.

Are those suggestions soooo bad?
Compared to cooper Cronk they are.
But compared to Brooks? Well, they aren’t worse!
Certainly not -8 (within seconds) worse!

I reckon it's a pretty fair call to not want to replace Brooks with completely unproven or really risky options.

If there is good talent out there we should try and get it but it's not that easy.
