Gosh, what would we do without a Luke Brooks thread?
OK, sure I’ll admit he’s not the best half in the comp, but he’s our half.

How dare Brooks let Moses crab 40 meters across field and leave our defensive line staggered ! That’s Brooks fault!

Are you honestly happy with what Brooks contributes to the team ?

Are you honestly happy with our goal line defense?

Clearly our biggest issue out of yesterday imo

Of course not but it’s the lack of brains and the failure of our main playmaker to get the upper hand in gaining us repeat sets which then forces the plodders to do more work in defence

Then it all snowballs into an avalanche .
Everyone of Brooks’s halves partners has had to carry the load due to his incompetence but for some reason the mediocrity fan club think he’s just wonderful ...

And that my friend is why we haven’t made the 8 in donkeys years .

How many games did Flanagan play at the Roosters 18? 20 ?
He didn’t cut it so they offloaded him but nah ...
Not with Lukey boy ... he’s wonderful..
Let’s give him 150+ games and pray ..

I just had a quick check, Hobby, there doesn’t appear to be a Sam Walker in the ranks waiting for an opportunity?
That’s the result of two decades of mismanagement and neglect. How we managed to hang onto Brooks should be seen as a small success. Now, if only we can defrag his hard drive and make him forget a lot of what we’ve taught him?
Brooks was our 18yo Sam Walker.

Pretty sure Sam Walker was signed from Ipswich jets , with the whole football world offering the world to him .
It’s hardly great roster management to chase the best kids . Same thing for Sualli. It’s a by product of the common knowledge that if you play for the roosters you will stumble into boats , apartments , 30k par 4s etc . As well just a successful club on the field .
You can’t bag the tigers for not having a Walker , as neither did the roosters , the kid came from his dads team up north .

Kenny Bromwich would have his back for sure. Les Davidson famously said to ‘Tugger’ Coleman, “you do my thinking and I’ll do your fighting”. Whose defending our halves at the moment. They’re being asked to do everything including make 25 tackles.

OK, let me rephrase that. I think Brooks, like many other players, has adapted to playing in accordance with the club’s expectations.

I would like for brooks to have more than one effective kick this week. Maybe force a dropout or simply just drop the high kick on the try line. Will go a big way to winning if we can force repeat sets and build pressure

Doueihis kicks are good but he can't be so reliant on them, eels quickly figured out the strategy was give it to Adam.

He’s played 150 games, surely it’s more than 2 effective kicks

2 effective kicks that lead to TRIES last 2 games will do every week..could have been 3 if Doueihi caught it when Fergo went on his gallop..

I’m Bagging the Tigers for having a Walker and burning him. Brooks is as good as any half in the nrl.

That’s true. That’s why I defend him so much . If you watch NFL , he reminds me of David Carr for the Texans , or , many elite quarterbacks . As in they surrounded him with nuffies , and he got beat , and beat , both in the scoreboard and physically that eventually , the sheer volume of abuse has left lasting scars .
Really really , crap job from everyone who was employed by the tigers prior to the last few years .

1..D.Laurie
6..A.Douhie
7..L.Brooks
9..J.Liddle

Whats not to like,Brooks will start to get results once these guys gel and start to get support from their teamates...
Laurie still has his L plates on albeit he is a gun superstar on the rise,AD still getting used to the 5/8 role and is getting much better as the weeks go on,Jacob working up to playing 80 in a position that he is made his own, just needs to stay uninjured after so long in rehab and now playing great..

It takes time,in having said that, this is the best spine we can produce atm...
Simpkins,Madden,Simpkin,Cini arent ready for NRL even though fans a crying out to play them...
I initially said in preseason that it would take 6/8 games this year to have the spine settled and on the same page, once their at that platform the results will come, much improvement in this spine yet.....

No but they do recruit mentality. That's the real reason for their continued success.

Sam walker 18yo and giving speeches to his team, demanding this and that. Asking more of grown men like JWH.

They do their homework and recruit to fit their culture.

Big improvement last 2 weeks by Brooksy and Doueihi imo.
Edge defence on the line is the issue, need to get those combos working together.
Last tackle option from within 20m too.
Hoping for a polished performance v Cows & confidence building as a result.
This is the week to put on a score and fix our for & against.

I wouldn’t go that far but I think he would shine in a better team with a strong pack.

OK, let me rephrase that. I think Brooks, like many other players, has adapted to playing in accordance with the club’s expectations.

Don’t get it. What’s that supposed to mean?

**Wests Tigers hold meeting with Luke Brooks amid interest from North Queensland Cowboys**

The Wests Tigers have held a sit down meeting with halfback Luke Brooks to ensure the no. 7 the club wants the playmaker to remain at Concord.
Brooks still has this season plus two more at the Wests Tigers but has been heavily linked to the North Queensland Cowboys in the past fortnight.

Brooks, 26, played under 20s for Wests Tigers when Cowboys coach Todd Payten was coaching at the joint venture.

The Tigers spoke to Brooks in the lead-up to their first victory of the season over Newcastle last Sunday to assure the halfback the club wants to retain the local junior long-term.

“We’ve told Luke we believe in him and we want him to remain our halfback,” Tigers general manager of football Adam Hartigan said.

“There’s never been any indication about him wanting to play anywhere else.”

The Cowboys are expected to enter the open market in search of a playmaker with Michael Morgan currently exploring being medically retired.

The move will mean North Queensland is cashed-up and can make a play for an established half.

Current Cowboys no. 7 Jake Clifford has signed with the Newcastle Knights for next season and is believed to be committed to the deal.

The Tigers have been linked to English Super League Man of Steel Jackson Hastings over the course of the past fortnight.

The joint venture is looking at Hastings to fill a utility player style of position for next season and beyond.

Tigers coach Michael Maguire has personally spoken to Hastings.

No deal is expected to struck anytime soon.

This would be the Tigers best offload ever if this happens!

Please go Brooks. Bring in Madden.

Bring in anyone else!

Geeeez you write a fair comment and it gets downvoted heavily and immediately by the fan club. So tiring honestly. It’s like Brooks has his own online marketing team.
That, or memories worse than goldfish on here. This forum is worse than Facebook sometimes.

Yeah , I’m sure that’s what the down votes were for

Not the fact his solution was a 34 year old Jimmy Maloney or a Rookie who has barely stood out in reserve grade to take the reigns.

Are those suggestions soooo bad?
Compared to cooper Cronk they are.
But compared to Brooks? Well, they aren’t worse!
Certainly not -8 (within seconds) worse!

Oh! yes they were + the fact Maloney said he would never play for us + Madden is a couple of years away if ever.
