Don’t know how to consider Prince a 10.

Tried to think, I’m sure I missed a few here:

Johns would be the closest thing I have seen to a 10.
Thurston, Cronk, Stuart, Langer 9
Brandy, Sterlo, 8
Toovey, Stacey Jones, Wiz 7
Maybe Prince sits at this level at his absolute peak .

Brooks isn’t anywhere near as good as those guys so I guess he must sit quite a few rungs down from there.

As far as Wests tigers halfbacks go, I’d put him below Robert Lui but above John Morris.

Below Lui?

For sure .. Lui was good

Yeah he was, his inability to be a decent human being cost us greatly as he was critical in the success of the 2010 and 11 teams. I think Prince was the better player though.

Prince *was* better than Lui. I meant that Lui was better than Brooks. Remember that Lui only had a short stint with us and in that time we went pretty deep in finals. Having said that, if Brooks was in that team he might have done as good. It's hard to ignore the fact that Benji was Golden Boot and he had the ability at the time to make everyone around him look incredible.

Lui was not better than Brooks. Brooks is clearly the superior player. Your eyes would have to be painted on to think otherwise. Lui was the ultimate turnstyle in defense and Benji practically carried that team. If Brooks played in that team instead of Lui we win the comp.

I was a fan of Lui, but Brooks is better on longevity alone.

There are two sides to a football game and Brooks is maybe the best in the game at defense and Lui was the worst. Someone may wish to make an argument that Lui is a better attacker, I disagree and think it's clear, but even if he is it doesn't make up the defensive gap.

Prince is maybe an 8 based on 2005 form ......

The question wasn't about the individual players rating as a halfback..

It was about value at Wests Tigers..With Prince at 7 we won a Premiership..that's a 10..

Not that hard to understand the Patriot.

I think the guy still has me on the no read list. he is just piecing together other peoples comments lol

By that measure, Lawrence was miles better than Ellery Hanley

Whilst I have huge respect for what Sterlo writes / says in the media and his football mind is second to none.
I just don’t see a half that has a creative running game. Brooks can run. His quick has a good step/swerve but that comes on the back of the space being opened up for him. He doesn’t create that himself. Maybe that is what Sterlo is alluding to but I’m not sure. And if he is looking to Join Canberra or Cronulla he is out of luck. There are only two places I can see him being useful. The Dragons, Broncos and the Titans. Everyone else either has their halves organised or has sixes in need of an organiser.

Basically my take from Sterlo, is he is implying with Doeuihi locked in at 5/8, the Tigers would be better off with Moses MBye in the halfback position. (Because he is an organiser)
Really?

I agree he is a much better defender. But a halfback's main purpose isn't defence. It's a bonus.

292 pages dedicated to a defensive Half Back. We need an attacking Half Back who can organise the troops. Hastings is that man. I will agree Brooks is better than Madden (watch the Brooks PR Team go into a lather). Duck everyone.

Why is it though that with a defensive halfback with perceivable poor organisational or attacking skills is our problem area defence and not attack.

Name me all the teams that have put on 32 or more points in one half this year.

I don’t really get this view. We can score points, it’s not our issue. Yet many want to replace Brook’s with an untested half (NRL) who has failed at two other clubs and had to move to super league, arguably during his prime, because no club would sign him. Let’s not put all our eggs into that basket.

Well they should.
Pascoe should put out a statement point blank denying it.
Call his bluff and maybe all the stupid, made up, stories will end.

Hoopers article suggests what we believed all along, that the Raiders made the approach for Brooks and then Pascoe basically said the only way you can have him is if you give us Wightman and Hodgson… which is basically a way of saying “thanks but no thanks”

In fairness to Hastings...he was still young and immature when he had his beef with DCE...his only real option if he wanted to play football was go to ESL,which he has done,he also has done very well over there and has matured...lets give him a chance to show how much he has changed and how well he can adjust back to NRL before we throw him off the cliff...hopefully Brooks can keep up his form of late going into next season and we will have a couple of halves that will be very competative as well as having AD in there as well...Madge will have to see who plays where, but I think our backline will be much stronger than this year...

This is not going away. Now being linked to a move to the Sharks whether it's true or not it must be unsettling. Getting a bit over the whole direction the game is going in - it's like a feeding frenzy of rumours and innuendo.
