Who needs official announcements from the club when we have Beau Ryan on the footy show

It is official announced on monday.
Im pretty sure Beau's onw contract is official as well, mind you I cant see an article.

Obviously he doesn't WANT to go to Parra. He left Penrith to play semis and win a comp.

HOWEVER….............if they really do offer $700 000 a season, then it's game over.

2.1 million over three years from Parra............or 960 000 from us over three years (according to Smoking Gun)

That's over a milllion difference.

No player at his age will walk away from that money. Let's hope it's not the real figure as I am sure he wants to play in Tigertown. Parra may well be desperate enough to pay massive overs though.

It would be very tough to turn down….

in the words of Ted Dibiase everyone has a price!

Even if he left with the intention of going to a strong club, if someone throws a truck load of money at you it can change things quickly

and can you blame him?

Apparently parra want a clause in his contract saying he can't play rep footy anymore. This is from a member of the coaching staffs family. So if true this has to play in our favour.

Call me crazy but i'd prefer to recieve an official annoucement from the club then just from a player on the footy show. How long ago was it that Ryan had said he had re-signed for 3 yrs, and when was that announced by the club? it hasn't been

Look if true to reports that his been offered $700,000 a season , that figure would pretty much make his mind up , cause he is no where near worth that much. But even if they don't put this sought of clause in his contract , you really have to wonder about your chances playing rep footy again going to a club like Parra. But if this is the last contract his thinking of signing , then he would be silly not to go to Parra, for his value wouldn't be worth that much after going to Parra

Word is that Houston and Wes Naiqama are both headed to Penrith next season.

I think Lewis ends up in Newcastle (unless the Parra money is just to good to turn down)

They just said on 2gb that Smith is going to ask Cronulla to leave on compassionate grounds. The two clubs favored to sign him are Parra & the Knights, interestingly they said they don't want to release him to Saints. If it turns out to be true, they will probably now win the race to sign him.

Apparently his family live in the Gong which would explain him wanting a release on compassionate grounds, but if they're not going to release him, wouldn't it kinda defeat the purpose?

WHAT???
They expect a passionate, honourable, classy, top line competitor to sign something like that?
It's something only someone as pathetic as jamie lyon would sign.

On Lewis, where he ends up is one of the greatest soap operas of this season! I would say that noone other than his inner circle really has a clue what's actually going on.

I thought it seemed a bit odd that they said they didn't want him to go to Saints. Im not a regular listener to the show sportzone & who was the person saying it but if anyone can listen to the podcast of tonight's show, it's around 6.40 - 6.50pm that they mentioned it.

Sorry GNR4LIFE, I think I've confused you with the way I worded it. They said Parra & Newcastle are favored to sign Smith & I meant I think if it turns out to be true, the Sharks will win the race to sign Lewis IMO.

It still defeats the purpose of asking for a release on compassionate grounds. The Dragons IIRC train in Wollongong and play 6/12 games there. Smith lives in Wollongong and he has a young family. Signing with Parra or Newcastle after requesting a compassionate release to be closer to family is lunacy.

Farah said in this week MX newspaper that Lewis told him during the SOO that he wanted out of penrith. Farah said he was trying to purswade him to come to the tigers. **Farah said that he liked the way the tigers play.**

C'mon Robbie work some more of your magic.

Really? Has he been watching many Tigers games this year? Everyone on here seems to be bagging out Parramatta saying Lewis would be nuts to go there because they'll never win a premiership blah, blah. Get the Tigers' goggles off people - we really aren't playing that much better than Parramatta this year.

The plan to get Lewis should be simple.

Tell Heighno that his services are not required beyond this year and that it's advised that he should consider seeking a release, an ESL club would snap him up in a heartbeat, on reasonable biccies too. This would free up 250k-300k I'd estimate and a position in the back row, allowing Lewis to slot in there.

Don't renew Tuqiri's contract, along with fringe players whose contracts expires at the end of the year. Tuqiri's contract alone would be worth about 350k, take into account others and there's some money to shop around with to spend not only on Lewis but other players on the market.

Wests Tigers captain Robbie Farah and coach Tim Sheens are hopeful their strong personal relationships with outgoing Penrith backrower Luke Lewis will convince him to join the joint venture NRL club.

Lewis and Farah forged a strong bond during NSW's unsuccessful State of Origin campaign while Kangaroos coach Tim Sheens has coached Lewis at international level.

Farah said he had spoken to Lewis during his turbulent week and that Wests Tigers would love to have a player of his calibre join them.

"It would be nice," Farah said.

"He is a quality player and that shows in the amount of interest that has been in him this week. A lot of clubs would like to have him. I'm no different, we are no different.

"I'm not sure what our situation is but if we can I'm sure all the boys would like to have him here.

"I got to know him over Origin and the last few Australia tours and consider him a really good friend.

"I have been in contact with him to see if he is alright and said to him he has to do what is best for himself that's most important and he needs to go where he is happy at a place and he can achieve his goals. Hopefully he sees our club as that place."

Sheens said Lewis's search for a new club would prove a difficult time for him.

"I think everyone would (be happy to have him)," Sheens said.

"I know there are plenty of clubs chasing him and that would be confusing for him. I know Luke pretty well myself and he will be wanting to do his best for the team (Penrith) for the rest of the season.

"Once players sort out their future whether to stay or go they settle down and want to do their best for their mates."
